Final Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite character tutorials: Jedah, Frank West, Doctor Strange, Rocket, Firebrand, & Spider-Man

We’ve finally arrived at the final six official character tutorials for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite‘s 30-character launch roster, courtesy of FingerCramp and Unequalled Media. This final set looks at the “Distressed Lord Of Death” and co-ruler of the Dark Kingdom, Jedah Dohma, Frank West, Doctor Strange, Rocket Raccoon, Firebrand, and your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

As is customary, Capcom UK Community Manager Matt “The Street Writer” Edwards provides a brief character overview, before dissecting each fighter’s specials, Hyper combos, and unique skills — such as Spider-Man’s Web Glide or Jedah’s ability to cancel his forward and back dashes into each other for extremely tricky movement angles. He then moves on to basic and advanced combo breakdowns — displayed at both normal and 50% speed — before closing on a recommended choice of Infinity Stone. We also get a listen to each character’s new theme — though Firebrand’s mistakenly seems to use Arthur’s again. You can view all six videos below.

Capcom Japan has also released their own trailer for the self-proclaimed “Vampire Savior.”

You can view all of the other character tutorials that have been released at the links below.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC. The first six DLC characters, Sigma, Black Panther, Monster Hunter, Black Widow, Winter Soldier and Venom, will also likely get character tutorials closer to their releases.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite character tutorials for Chun-Li, Nova, Thanos, Dante, Nemesis, and Thor

With Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite now officially released, Unequalled Media, FingerCramp, and Capcom UK Community Manager Matt “The Street Writer” Edwards have released the next half-dozen character tutorials for the playable cast. This selection of videos focuses on Chun-Li, Nova, the “Mad Titan” Thanos, Dante, Nemesis and Thor.

As always, Edwards provides us with a brief character overview, before going over each hero and villain’s specials, and unique skills — such as Thanos’s command normals or Chun’s ability to enhance her specials using her traditional charge inputs — before closing on an Infinity Stone recommendation. They also highlight one basic and one advanced combo, shown at both normal and 50% speed, in addition to giving a quick listen to the new character themes.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam. The final six character tutorials for Spider-Man, Frank West, Doctor Strange, Rocket Raccoon, Firebrand and Jedah Dohma should arrive sometime later this week. You can view our coverage of the previous tutorials at the following links:

Unleash your inner rage with Maximilian’s Teen Gohan character breakdown for Dragon Ball FighterZ

Though the closed beta may be wrapping up, Maximilian continued his character breakdowns of the original 6 Z Warriors revealed for Dragon Ball FighterZ by taking a look at the final Saiyan amongst the current playable cast, Teen Gohan.

Given that this is the teenage version of Gohan — in his Super Saiyan 2 form from when he battled Perfect Cell at the conclusion of the Cell Games — he is understandably a short character with stubby limbs, similar to Krillin and Android 18. However, he makes up for this with his massive damage output, in addition to have some unique utility that sets him apart from other cast members.

His standing medium attack lunges him forward a bit, providing him with some help in the neutral, while his ki blasts function similarly to Vegeta’s in terms of being fast, multi-hitting fireballs that come out fairly quickly.

Moving on to his specials, his Five Strike Combo is normally a lunging kick, but can be enhanced with multiple button presses to continue the side-switching assault. Though it does good damage and is a solid combo ender, it does leave Teen Gohan in an airborne state, preventing him from using any supers until he lands back on the ground. Also similarly to Vegeta, Teen Gohan possesses a Shoryuken in the form of his Dragon Flight, which will make him rise up at different angles depending on strength. However, the EX version cannot be combed off of without spending a second bar on a Vanish.

Teen Gohan’s air-only special, the Aerial Kick, resembles Chun-Li’s Lighting Legs, which provides him with a solid gap-closing tool, but he doesn’t get near the pressure of the Strongest Woman in the World due to the inability to use a super afterwards.

In terms of his super special attacks, the No Motion Kamehameha sees Gohan look to the heavens, before blasting a Kamehameha Wave upwards, in an angle similar to Iron Man’s angled Proton Cannon, which limits its usage to after wall bounces or for DHCing into another partner. However the super that should see the most use is his Level 3, the legendary Father-Son Kamehameha (that was used to completely obliterate Perfect Cell). This attack does huge damage, but if you feel the need to unleash Gohan’s full power and you have 2 meters to spare, you can hold down any button to unleash the ultimate Father-Son Kamehameha Full Power, for the hefty price of 5 meters, for one of the most damaging supers in the entire game.

Lastly, Max notes that Teen Gohan also has some unique utility an as assist. When called, he’ll unleash the light version of his Dragon Flight, providing his allies with a fully-invincible Shoryuken-style assist, which is both a fantastic mix-up tool and an incredible meterless anti-air option for fighters who might need it. This falls in line with producer Tomoko Hiroki’s comment that they want some of the physically-weaker fighters to perhaps be more valuable to a team as an assist, rather than a point character. You can see the full video below.

Next up, Max will be breaking down the villainous trio of Frieza, Perfect Cell, and Majin Buu to close out the currently-playable cast. You can see his previous breakdowns at the links below.

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be available in February 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC, with pre-orders granting Early Access to an Open Beta to be held closer to release.

Raiden teleports into Injustice 2 this October; will have Black Lightning Premier Skin

After the conclusion of the 2017 Injustice 2 Pro Series finals, NetherRealm Studios had a special treat for those in attendance — or watching live around the world on Twitch. Raiden, the game’s 5th DLC character, and 2nd member of Fighter Pack 2, has received his official reveal trailer.

After promising to send Brainiac to the NetherRealm, the God of Thunder unleashed a flurry of his signature offense, including his Vicinity Blast, Shocker, Superman torpedo attack, the Teleport from his Displacer Variation in Mortal Kombat XL, as well as his Lightning Traps from the Master of Storms Variation.

Then, Black Lightning — Raiden’s Premier Skin – entered The Batcave to challenge Robin. His Trait appears to be striking himself with lighting to power up his attacks, with his effects even becoming yellow when Black Lightning is in play. Lightning even encases Black Manta is some sort of electrical prison, that will damage a foe if they throw projectiles, setting Raiden/Lighting up for a full punish. This could potentially be one of their Gear Abilities, along with a ground pound that serves as a wake-up attack.

Finally, in perhaps the flashiest super in the game, Raiden teleports his enemy to Mortal Kombat‘s Sky Temple, where he then combos them before taking them up into the sky, electrocuting them, and then transforms into the classic logo of the franchise, before unraveling into a lighting dragon and chomping them down to size. It is unknown if Black Lightning will share this same super animation, like every other Premier Skin before him.

Raiden will be available in October as part of Fighter Pack 2, while his Black Lightning Premier Skin will be an exclusive perk to Ultimate Edition owners. You can see the full trailer below.

Learn how to effectively punish Super Dashes in Dragon Ball FighterZ with this guide from GXC|Damascus

Recently, Unequalled Media’s Tyrant and GXC|Damascus traveled down to the offices of Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe to get some more playtime with the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ. After playing a fierce first-to-three Set, Damascus decided to make a guide to further educate aspiring players how to effectively punish the universal Super Dash mechanic.

Executed by pressing the Ki Blast and Heavy attack buttons, the Super Dash sees your character flying directly towards the opponent. While they do allow you to close the gap and fly through basic Ki blasts, there are a multitude of ways to defend against a Super Dash. By inputting Reflect (back and the Ki Blast button), you can swat away a Super Dashing opponent and reset the situation back to neutral.

If you’re willing to spend one of your possible 7 meters, you can also utilize the Vanish mechanic. This will allow you to immediately teleport behind your adversary, getting you both a punish as well as an escape. While they do smash through basic projectiles, the Super Dash does lose to beam specials like the basic Kamehameha, as well as projectile Supers like Burning Attack, Special Beam Cannon or Final Flash. If you have the meter, don’t be afraid to waste an incoming opponent.

Finally, Damascus closes with what he believes is the best punish for this situation, your character’s crouching Heavy attack. These upper-body invincible moves serve as the universal anti-airs for all characters, which will also launch your opponent for a full combo on hit, similar to MVC3’s Special button. Standing Heavies will also do the job, but are a bit less reliable, as you have to read your opponent’s Super Dash before inputting the Heavy. However, characters with armored standing Heavies like Android 16 can easily challenge Super Dashes. If you’ve been fortunate enough to make it into the closed beta, you’ll definitely want to give these techniques a try for yourself.

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released on February 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC. You can see some scans of the newly-revealed Yamcha, Tien and original character Android 21 here.

Become the Prince of all Saiyans with Maximilian’s character breakdown of Vegeta in Dragon Ball FighterZ

With the closed beta now in full swing, Maximilian continues his series of character breakdowns for the currently-announced cast of Dragon Ball FighterZ, this time focusing on the Prince of all Saiyans, Vegeta.

Max believes Vegeta will be another extremely popular character behind Goku, due to being another all-rounder warrior. Though he has shorter range compared to Kakarot, he makes up for it by being slightly faster. Though he obviously lacks a Kamehameha Vegeta’s Ki Blast Rush allows him to pepper the screen with projectiles to keep opponents away. Vegeta also has a divekick in the form of his Intercept Kick, which will land him immediately on the ground and will also bounce foes away on hit, meaning confirms will likely require the use of Supers or Vanishes.

The Super Dash Kick propels Vegeta forward, though it lacks the travel arc of Goku’s Rapid Kick Rush. It covers about half-screen distance, can combo into either of his Supers on hit, and is great for closing the gap with an enemy. His final Special, the Crusher Knee Kick, sets him apart from Goku and his own SSB counterpart, by functioning as an uppercut. It resembles Azrael’s Panzer Strike from BlazBlue Central Fiction, and the Medium version can be followed-up with a somersault kick that knocks his foes downward, which he used against Semi-Perfect Cell in the original series.

Moving to his Super Special Attacks, Vegeta’s Big Bang Attack can be used on both the ground and in the air, travels the screen quickly, and seems for tacking on damage at the end of combos. His Level 3, the Final Flash, also has great utility for even more damage.

Max also notes that breakdowns for Teen Gohan, Frieza, Perfect Cell and Majin Buu will be on the way soon. You can also check out his breakdowns of the previous cast members at the links below.

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released in February 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Pre-ordering either the regular or CollectorZ Editions will provide you will early access to the open beta, early unlocks for SSB Goku and Vegeta, as well as two exclusive Online Lobby avatars.

Gather your energy with Maximilian’s character breakdown of Goku in Dragon Ball FighterZ

With the Gamescom build’s new challengers completed, Maximilian made the journey down to the Bandai Namco Entertainment America offices to continue his Dragon Ball FighterZ character breakdowns for the initial six characters.  Being the poster boy for the entire Dragon Ball series, where better to start than with Goku?

Unsurprisingly, Max feels that Goku is the “Shoto” of DBFZ, similarly to other simple-to-use, well-rounded fighting game protagonists such as Ryu, Ragna The Bloodedge, Sol Badguy and Yu Narukami, just to name a few. He even notes in regards to his moves that “it all looks really good and it looks absolutely awesome when you do so.”

He has decent range on his normals that make for easy combos, as well as a Hurricane Kick in the form of his Rapid Kick Rush. This flurry of kicks possesses great utility, by providing Goku with powerful corner carry and wallbounces to extend combos. His Dragon Flash Fist is a rush punch that looks similar to Azrael’s Gustav Buster from BlazBlue, that gives him access to a hard knockdown, or a teleport that brings him immediately back down in front of the opponent. Goku can combo into his Kamehamehas from his basic Ki blasts, and they can be angled in multiple directions, either diagonally up if grounded, or straight forward if airborne, by holding up or down.

Though he has a limited pool of specials, Max feels that Goku’s Supers are what make him truly unique. The Super Kamehameha can be angled similar to its normal counterpart, while the Instant Transmission Kamehameha will see the Saiyan teleport behind his opponents before throwing the energy in an upward arc, making it a perfect ender for air combos if you can spare the meter.

Finally, his Level 3 Meteor Smash sees Goku transform into Super Saiyan 3 before immediately teleporting behind his foe for a huge Kamehameha. It’s a great punishing tool but has enough startup to be reactable, with limited tracking as of the Gamescom build so aim carefully.

Sacred World of the Kais stage confirmed by Dragon Ball FighterZ’s Japanese website

The official Japanese website for Dragon Ball FighterZ was recently updated, and something very interesting has appeared on the site’s home page. On the section of the site describing the game’s Battle System, a pair of new screenshots can be seen, showcasing Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta and Future Trunks battling Teen Gohan on a previously-unseen stage: the Sacred World of the Kais.

First appearing during the Majin Buu Saga, the Sacred World of the Kais is where Gohan ascended to his Mystic Form. This world would also play important roles throughout the remainder of the series, infamously serving as the backdrop for the final battle of the series, as Goku and Vegeta took on Kid Buu, with the fate of the entire world at stake.

Given that this arena is strongly tied to those two characters, this is perhaps an indication that we may see both of them announced for DBFZ in the future. Currently, we have Gohan on the roster, but in his Teen form seen during the Cell Games. Mystic Gohan would likely have a different variety of attacks, in addition to being stronger, older and more experience in battle. Likewise, the original, fat, Majin Buu is on the roster, but Kid Buu is extremely different both in terms of appearance and personality.

Though producer Tomoko Hiroki previously stated in an interview that the team wanted to avoid adding multiple forms of a character to the cast if possible, we’ve already seen exceptions made for the Super Saiyan Blue versions of Goku and Vegeta. Rather than just being straight palette swaps, SSB Goku and Vegeta are similar to Evil Ryu and Violent Ken in Street Fighter — they have the same normals but vastly augmented specials and Supers. You can see the screenshots of the stage below.

DBFZ-Sacred-World-Of-Kais-1

Would you like to see either of these characters, or even Shin, Kibitio, or their fused form Kabito Kai, join the playable cast of Dragon Ball FighterZ? What do you think of this new stage addition? Let us know in the comments below.

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released in February 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam PC. You can see scans for the newest revealed characters, Yamcha, Tien and Android 21 here.
