VesperArcade discusses the things needed to make Sagat the king once more in Street Fighter V

Sagat has had a history of being a great character within fighting games. Super Street Fighter II Turbo saw the old version of him reign near the top of the tier list. Capcom vs. SNK 2 saw him as one of the strongest Ratio 2 characters in the game. Street Fighter IV had him as an obvious top tier in the first version, but never saw him slide so far down the tier list in subsequent updates to make him irrelevant in competitive play.

Street Fighter V — upon his release — is one of the main exceptions. So how does he come back without becoming a broken mess? VesperArcade mentions the deficiencies in his zoning game — where the game itself sends him into very awkward spacings — but also makes a note that his movement options leave a lot to be desired in their current state.

Learn how to get better from your losses with this video from The Average Fighter

Hold that L, the right way.

People usually get into fighting games with the goal of winning — what few grasp is that being able to win at the highest level also takes a magnitude of losses. The reason that losses are so important is that they serve as great learning experiences. However, it is very hard to see the lessons in a loss when your head is swimming from the actual result.

Wenster seeks to educate those people on how to look at losses properly in his most recent video. With the ability nowadays to lab out the exact things you lost to, as well as actually tracking your own progress, it’s definitely within your grasp to use losses as the learning experiences they actually are.

VesperArcade discusses the differences between Nash’s V-Triggers in Street Fighter V

With over ten months of play in Season 3 of Street Fighter V, the argument over which V-Triggers are dominant have started to reach a general consensus on most characters. While there are a few characters that see practical uses of both V-Triggers — some of which are indeed match-up dependent — some characters have clearly superior V-Triggers.

Nash — while having interesting usage of his V-Trigger II — has mostly seen his original V-Trigger used in competitive play. While both V-Triggers have interesting things off of hit confirms, the second V-Trigger suffers from issues past the initial hit confirm, according to VesperArcade. This — when coupled with it requiring one extra bar of V-Meter — causes V-Trigger II to be more of a liability than anything.

Momochi and ChocoBlanka announce departure from Echo Fox

Just when you thought it was safe to wear orange and blue again.

October’s cuts to the Echo Fox roster seemed to settle down recently, and it was thought that we may have seen the end of it. However, this is not the case.

In a public announcement in both English and Japanese, both Evo 2015 and Capcom Cup 2015 champion Yusuke Momochi and his wife Yuko “ChocoBlanka” Momochi have announced their departure from Echo Fox to “begin a whole new chapter of our life from here.”

They also assured the public that Shinobism (their esports school) and their various other endeavors –including Fudoh — will remain in operation. They then hinted that they will soon “show all of you our new uniform,” while stressing that it won’t be a Shinobism or Fudoh uniform, possibly signifying that they have taken their talents elsewhere.

Tung Fu Rue shows off his newfound damage potential in The King of Fighters XIV

Tung Fu Rue may be old, but clearly age has sharpened him into a killing machine. With this most recent combo video for The King of Fighters XIV — based on the 3.01 patch — Tung shows off some insane air Senpuu Ken loops, with nearly every combo doing at least 70% damage. He also shows off amazing restand combos that make him look more like a Marvel character than anything. Perhaps he should trade in his Fu Manchu for a curly mustache.

VesperArcade discusses possible characters for Season 4 of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

With Season 3 coming to a close, the inevitable wish list discussion has begun. Which characters would people like to see in the next season of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition? For VesperArcade, there’s a decent mix of obvious characters with less likely, but equally interesting choices.

While obvious fan-favorites such as Dudley, C. Viper, and Fei-Long make the list, we also hear some other less common names make the cut for them. Would many people clamor for the possibility of getting their hands on Sodom from Street Fighter Alpha or Eagle from Street Fighter 1?

To finish off, they also discuss the possibility of entirely new characters.

WydD releases input latency test results from the most recent patch for Street Fighter V on PlayStation 4

For the last few weeks, Capcom has touted a new patch that they stated aimed to reduce input lag within the game’s engine — a problem that has plagued players since the release of the title in 2016. Questions lingered on how much the patch would actually do, and further still, whether the patch would do anything about the stability, which caused lag to be higher at certain points — the infamous “lag cycle”.

With the patch now out, Loïc “WydD” Petit has put the PlayStation 4 version through his stress test. The verdict is in, and input latency has been reduced from 5.4 frames of lag to 4.5 frames of lag — a lag window that is closer to other titles, Fighting EX Layer being just over 4 frames — but still outside of the input lag window of Ultra Street Fighter IV which clocks in at 3.5 frames.

Further, stability has improved drastically, up to 77% from a staggeringly low 40%, meaning that while there will be occasional random issues with lag and inputs, the dreaded lag cycle has been put to rest.

This bodes well for the title, as input latency and instability are issues for which fixes have been long-desired by the SFVAE playerbase.

VesperArcade offers a list of changes to Ibuki in Season 4 of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

With the end of the 2018 Capcom Pro Tour in sight, we know that another season — full of patches, nerfs, and buffs — is on the horizon. With a set of generally agreed upon top 5 characters, Ibuki always ends up in that list, as she has been for the last two seasons. The question now is how to properly balance her while keeping her playable competitively.

VesperArcade offers up their answers in their most recent wish list. With changes to her throw and overhead being near the top of the list, they also suggest some sort of buff to her first V-Trigger to make both V-Triggers equally viable.

Stumblebee takes a look at the rise, fall, and plateau of Street Fighter X Tekken

The legacy that Street Fighter X Tekken has is often divisive between people in the fighting game community. While there exists the camp of players who fell in love with the game it became, many still remember it for the game it was — and the poor marketing choices that Capcom made that resulted in its downfall.

In this video, Stumblebee takes a hard look at the game — including its initial announcement, the promotional machine before its release, and its flaws upon release. He also delves into what made the game better within its title update — which still ultimately still saw the game widely abandoned for the Ultra Street Fighter IV update.
