FGC community member D0N_757 has put together a handy little phone app, called “Pot Splitter”, for tournament organizers. This simple tool divides up the entrance fees among placements as defined by the user and figures out the correct total for each place. SoulCalibur VI’s Maxi melts life bars in this Double Dragon-themed combo video

Maxi isn’t one of the more well-represented characters in the zoning-heavy meta of SoulCalibur VI right now. That’s probably a shame because, as LegendaryWolf Shirou shows off for roughly 8 minutes, this character has a variety of high-damage, flashy combos.

Whether at the wall, off a guard crush, or just from a correct loop guess, Maxi can turn some surprising situations into round-stealers. He’s also one of the very few characters in the game that can land multiple CE’s in one combo, thanks to his ability to modify the initial hit into a  juggle state.

Learn how to manipulate wall juggles with the many options of SoulCalibur VI’s Raphael

SoulCalibur VI has been incredibly kind to Raphael players. While he might still have his by-design weakness to sidestep, SC’s original fencer racks up damage in surprising areas he’s never been able to before. He has exceptionally good punishment, lockdown pressure, good launchers, and perhaps most importantly, insane potential off wall splats.

That latter point is illustrated in the latest in-depth tutorial from LimitBreakGamingAndJapan, whom shows off the variety of highly technical conversions Raphael gets off of his many wall-splats. Going through these wall combos will also teach you a lot about his unique links and Prep cancels — and how this incarnation could be the strongest Raph has ever been.

Justin Wong shares his wishlist for Season 4 in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

Being a top player — and a legend of the FGC, on top of that — means that your voice carries a little further in the community. With that in mind, Justin Wong just shared his list of desired changes for a theoretical season 4 of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Few names are more well known in our community than multi-Evo champion Justin Wong’s, so we should consider what he has to say — since you know Capcom will, too.

JWong’s list is unsurprisingly conservative: his desires mostly center around pulling back on SFV’s offensive focus via better v-reversals and weakened V-trigger cancels on block. SFV has never seemed to shake the feeling that it leans too hard on crush counter fishing — do you think Jwong’s suggestions will alleviate that?

Push The King of Fighters XIV’s Mai juggle damage to the limit with Persona Entertainment

Sometimes, the real challenge of putting together a combo video is just to find something fresh. In The King of Fighters XIV, Mai Shiranui has less flashy potential than average: most extended setups, for example, rely on tired-and-true combo video methods of extensions, such as delayed fireballs.

Persona Entertainment‘s goal has always been to push out interesting conversions for every character in KOFXIV, and despite Mai’s limitations, they still manage to find ways to squeeze out stun combos and cross-under juggles. Check out the video above to see his Mai creations, or check out the rest of his series on his YouTube channel.

Japan’s finest in action at Super Street Fighter II Turbo East v. West team tournament

One of the most powerful testaments to the strength of a game is its scene’s desire to continue playing long past the expiration date of “main stage” status. This is one of the reasons why Super Street Fighter II Turbo will never die, and why the players over at GameSpot Versus will always be a threat in their beloved classic fighter.

GameSpot Versus regularly hosts East vs. West team tournaments with  nearly 50 players showing up to represent their scenes. If the game play of this massive event impressed you, be sure to check out their twitch channels for even more high level action across a range of legacy titles.

VesperArcade considers how to fine-tune Abigail for a Season 4 of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

“Despite being a brawler, he’s one of the best grapplers in the game…” summarizes the plight of balancing Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition‘s Abigail well. Almost no other character has had the strange journey of unnecessary (then quickly reverted) buffs and miscalculated design as the car-crazed Canadian.

While balancing Abigail for a potential Season 4 probably necessitates making other grapplers better comparatively, the minds over at VesperArcade have some ideas on how to keep him strong without making him absurd. It’s probably not a surprise, but a bulk of the conversation centers around his 2-bar VT1, and the overwhelming synergy it has with his large health pool and robbery mechanics.
