Playergodaines shares K’ Combos for King of Fighters XIV version 2.01

Wanna pick up King of Fighter’s K’ after the buffs he received in 2.0? Playergodaines’s combo tutorial should get you up to speed!

The most noteworthy change to his combos is fasted speed on his “Knee Assault”, executed with f+B. This active hitbox change allows him to use it in new ways in corner juggles with Max Mode. It adds a little bit more variety to execution for K’ and pushes his damage just a little bit more. He actually received other buffs to- for example, invincibility on his climax super, “Hyper Chain Drive”.

If you weren’t sure if you wanted to play him before, give the latest K’ model a try!

New Challenger TV shares 4th episode of “Beginner Breakdowns” analysis series for Street Fighter V

New Challenger TV’s “Beginner Breakdowns” series takes fan-submitted footage from online games, usually from Bronze and Silver, and analyzes the play.

Hosted by Encore41 and JZA, this particular episode breaks down footage from the loser’s finals of their Discord’s online tournament series. The matches covered includes footage of common characters that tend to give all skill levels trouble: Guile, Ibuki, and Balrog. This is a valuable resource for those unsure of how to approach these match-ups, and the (very large) Discord itself is a great place for new players to get feedback as they begin their Street Fighter V journey.

FGpop shares more Touhou 15.5 Antinomy of Common Flowers combos, including a Moku/Marisa Touch of Death

The people that play Touhou games are wildly dedicated to the franchise they love. It’s probably no surprise then that merely days after a difficult-to-obtain demo for the Marvel-esque Touhou 15.5 Antinomy of Common Flowers was released, we’ve got incredibly high damage combo videos showing up in our tip-box here at SRK.

FGpop has shared with us two combo videos from the demo. The first one is innocuous enough, showing off the combo potential of the series’s new tag mechanic.

…but with the right resources an positioning, this Mokou/Marisa combo truly inherits the spirit of Marvel.  How common 100%s will be int he final build is obviously anyone’s guess, but if this is showing up in the demo this early, there’s obviously more to be found in the future.

And rest assured, Touhou fans will find it.

Check out all these Ed combos from Street Fighter V’s beta

Balrog’s protege, Ed, certainly seems to have piqued the interest of the FGC. There’s a lot of videos and combos rolling in for the Psycho Pugilist, so let’s see what the community has come up with!

VesperArcade‘s combo guide will help you get started with the basics of Ed’s combo game. Organized by starter type, this is the best place to start if you’re really unsure of where to begin.

Venom44 took Ed in training on the PC mode and pushed the combo potential of his V-trigger to it’s limit. Lots of situational and flashy combos here!

marlonlonmilk wants to make sure you know when NOT to combo into super.

datHazy has a guaranteed taunt combo!

And lastly, Y. Xiao has found some clever loops off crush counters and anti-air j.MP.

How are you liking Ed so far? What would you want to see changed in his move-list before he goes live?

Gatoray demonstrates super punishes versus Whip’s movelist in King of Fighters XIV

Do you feel like Whip players get away with too much on your block? If you have a fast super, you might just be right!

Many of Whip’s specials and longer range normals have significant recovery, but range prevents many characters from punishing. As Gatoray demonstrates though, fast dashing supers should reach her. An obvious example? Iori’s EX “Kin 1211 Shiki · Yaotome”. This 4-frame super shuts down a lot of her more annoying pokes, once you have 2-bars or more.

Daniel “Tafokints” Lee talks about the importance of spectators in Super Smash Bros. Melee for Yahoo! Esports

Daniel “Tafokints” Lee is back with another Melee Science video, and he’s talking about a topic that extends far beyond Super Smash Bros. Melee. He discusses “pot monsters” and spectators, the driving force of tournament revenue for top players and sponsors alike.

In a double-elimination tournament, half of your entrants are out after 1st round of losers bracket. As Melee (and all FGC games) grow, maintaining the interest of these players in some way is vital to the continued success of the scene. Tafokints speaks to this, and points out how larger tournaments are handling this: for example, Evo’s panels, or Civil War’s bar.

Nev explains the power of Ryu’s jab Shoryuken on offense and defense in Street Fighter V

Andrew “Nev” Murphy has created two quick analysis videos that show off the value of using more jab Shoryukens with Ryu, both offensively and defensively.

The first video covers the jab Shoryuken’s ability to trade or blow up strings with 2 frame gaps. While Ryu is the main focus, Nev also goes on to show some other possibilities with Necalli and Akuma.

For offense, though, it’s all about Ryu. Nev shows off some nice meaty timings post-jab Shoryuken that blow up most reversal options. He makes a strong argument for trading the damage from a Tatsu ender for the pressure gained from jab Shoryuken.

Ronin Esports releases Alex Myers from their team’s roster

Ronin Esports has just announced the release of their lone fighting game player, Alex Myers.

The decision comes hot off the heels of the Cammy pro’s top 5 finish at DreamHack Austin in Street Fighter V. Considering his recent upswing and improvement, it’s a surprising departure. It certainly can’t be performance related: Ronin is still impressed enough to have Alex’s face dress the front page of Ronin HQ at the time of this writing.

Despite this, the release appears to be amicable. From Alex himself:

There is no official reason provided for Myers release, or word yet of how this impacts his future as a traveling professional.
