Cody can rebuild V-Trigger timer while V-Trigger II is active in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

alb3530 has discovered a curious quirk in Cody’s V-Trigger II — “Dirty Coach” — for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. For some inexplicable reason, it would seem that his V-Trigger II st.HP refills the V-Trigger timer — if it Crush Counters.

This may or may not be a glitch. It appears to only happen with this particular Crush Counter, and the amount of V-Gauge it raises it is not something that could be called game-breaking. Still, it’s good information to have — Cody’s st.HP Pipe is a good poke and anything that extends your time with V-Trigger being active is valuable.

Registration will open on July 19th for Bandai Namco’s SoulCalibur VI tournament at Evo 2018

Make sure you’re registered for Evo in time to join this battle!

Talk about cutting it close! With only two days left to sign up for Evo 2018, Bandai Namco has decided now is a good time to provide registration information for a side tournament for one of the most anticipated titles of 2018: SoulCalibur VI.

While this isn’t totally out of left field (and Tekken 7 appeared at Evo two years in a row before its console release) if this was the game you were basing your Evo attendance around, you need to make a decision real quick! Based on the tweet, registration opens for the SoulCalibur tournament on 7/19 on the (currently inactive) smash.gg site here. We will update this article with any changes to this announcement, so stay tuned!

Frame Advantage studies the Dark Hadō of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition’s Akuma in “The Lab”

The Frame Advantage crew, made up of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition Pros UM|Tyrant and Method|Packz, are back to dissect whom they believe is the #1 character in the game: the Great Demon, Akuma.

Akuma, option-heavy as he typically is by design, is so strong that he rises above the intentional nerf to the shoto-style that SFV was built around. He’s wildly safe, has one of the game’s best fireballs, and can force incredible pressure with his EX Demon Flip. Today’s episode of “The Lab” explores minute options to simplify specific situations versus Akuma, but as the crew summarizes, beating the demon ultimately boils down to adapting to the player — because there’s little weakness in the demon to take advantage of.

Fighting EX Layer has Kara Throws with ridiculous range

Fighting EX Layer‘s Gougi system allows players to modify core aspects of their character’s strengths. I bring this up because a common Gougi for Grapplers (particularly Darun) is the Thunderbolt Gougi (which allows you to threaten with a command grab from virtually anywhere on the screen via the “teleport” ability) or the Grab Master Gougi (which improves your grab range.)

But if you want improved grab range without having to commit to one of these particular Gougi decks, there’s good news: not only are kara grabs in this game, they are huge. As demonstrated in the video above you can with cancel virtually any normal into special moves on whiff. This allows you to get the extra range from those normals and get longer range command grabs in the process. Considering that you also get extra momentum from dashing in FEXL, you can see the potential every command grab character has, regardless of what Gougi they pick.

Haven’t made up your mind on Pocket Rumble yet? If you didn’t play any of SNK’s Neo Geo Pocket Fighter games, the impact of nostalgia may not be there for you. But fear not, nostalgia is not all the newly ported Switch Fighter is running on — behind the cute sprite-work and chiptunes is an incredibly solid and interesting fighting system:
