alb3530 shares how to change unavailable machine settings in Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

Arcade machines are full of DIP switches and machine settings that allow arcades to tweak various aspects of the game. For example: game price and sound output. When Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection was first released, fans were happy to see that these machine settings could be toggled — then likely disappointed to find out some rather important settings available in the original machines were not there.

Well, it turns out those settings can still be switched, even if not through the game itself. With a little bravery (and the ability to edit XML files), you can still access those settings thanks to this run down from user “alb3530” on steam. You can check out the demonstration and instructions here.

Packz breaks down Cody’s viability in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition for Frame Advantage’s “The Lab”

Packz , one half of Frame Advantage’s “In The Lab” hosts, broke into the Street Fighter IV U.K. scene with his strong Cody play. It is no surprise, then, that when Cody dropped for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, he would have some things to say about the newly elected mayor.

With arguably one of the game’s best anti-airs, a menagerie of great pokes, and stun potential for days, there’s plenty to like about Cody — but there’s plenty of weaknesses, too, such as trouble with fireballs and a poor back walk speed. Check out the latest “In The Lab” video for the complete Cody break down from one of the FGC’s most well known specialists!

Keep the opposition busy with Cody’s Light Ruffian Kick okizeme in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

Considering the Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition version of Cody is a stun monster, anything that allows him to keep the pressure on is going to fit in his game-plan nice. Recognizing this is NurseLee , who brings us today’s exploration of Cody’s Light Ruffian Kick.

Light Ruffian Kick might do less damage than the other versions available, but the trade off if is the opportunities it presents on hit: a timed dash will keep Cody at frame advantage regardless of what the opponent choose to do, allowing him to stuff any rowdy button press from the opponent.

Indie Horror-Fighter Omen of Sorrow to reveal launch date, and two new characters, on July 24th

We’ve entered a strange era where companies routinely reveal release dates for release date revelations. AOne Games, developers of indie horror-fighter Omen of Sorrow, is the most recent example of this in their interview with portal13.com:

I know you’ve said Q3 for a release date. Could you give us a month or a date?

Budinich: We are going to announce the launch date on July 24th. Along with two new characters.

Outside of this revelation, there was a healthy amount of discussion in regards to the game’s mechanics and development — from the standpoint of both designers and fighting game players. Anyone interested in how a fighting game can come together with just four designers should absolutely check out the interview here.

Demonstrate your discipline with these Gang-Il combos for The King of Fighters XIV

One of The King of Fighters XIV‘s newcomers is Gang-Il, a fascinating character that brings a new take on the Taekwondo style traditionally represented by Kim Kaphwan.

A large part of both of his offense pressure and his juggle filler comes from his air Hangetsuzan, or QCB+B/C. Since he has the ability to cancel directly from his j.A into Hangetsuzan, Gang-Il has a lot of ways to pressure and mix-up the opponent. Today’s video from Persona Entertainment explores the damage potential and style of Gang-Il, which makes heavy use of EX Hangetsuzan’s float property combined with his jump cancels.

Fighting EX Layer After-Guard Recording bug punishes things that it shouldn’t

Are you enjoying Fighting EX Layer? We are too! And as a member of the FGC, you probably like to test stuff out in training mode. FEXL has some robust recording features, but there’s one that — in its current form, at least — only works on paper. That’s the “After Guard” setting. Here’s a quick demonstration:

Currently, “After Guard” seems to act sooner then a human would be allowed to, bypassing block-stun and punishing things that wouldn’t normally be possible. Consider this a friendly PSA so that you don’t mistakenly assume something is unsafe that actually isn’t.
