World Warrior demonstrates fake side-switch set-up for Street Fighter V’s Ken

Side-switch resets are common place in Street Fighter V. While the ability to force a “which-way-do-I-block?” situation is fine, you need something equally invisible to mix it up with. If you’re employing tech like this, after all, you’re likely playing at a level where the average player knows about cross-under mix-ups.

In World Warrior FGC‘s latest video he demonstrates the power of exactly the sort of mix-up you need to make these cross-unders work: a fake side-switch cross-under. Discovered originally by JonesArcade, this setup turns Ken’s EX Tatsu into a pure coin-flip on hit. Time the Tatsu at the apex of the jump and your standing light kick will go the wrong direction, putting you back on the same side you were originally on.

perfectfaro shows off Menat’s mid-screen combo potential for Street Fighter V

Some of the most involved and intricate combos in Street Fighter V belong to Rose’s apprentice, Menat. This is thanks to her V-Trigger, Wisdom of Thoth, a crucial aspect of Menat’s moveset for advanced play.

Menat’s high-resource, high-reward playstyle means it’s all the more important to fully cash out on your combo damage when the opportunity presents itself. With the right effort, the extent of your rewards can be pretty crazy: as perfectfaro shows in this video, Menat gets insane damage off of Crush Counters, particularly if she’s already in V-Trigger. With one EX bar and a lot of execution, she can stun the 900-point stun meter of Cammy, or simply chose to go straight into super, if it’s available.

Fighters Generation shares combos from the Fighting EX Layer beta for Allen, Kairi, and Skullomania

ARIKA’s Fighting EX Layer beta may be gone for now, but it has left the community with a distinct idea of what the storied Japanese developer has been building up to. With only a short time to explore the game’s beta, Fighters Generation was among to the many excited EX series fans to jump in and capture footage.

Fighters Generation’s focus was not finding infinites — of which there were plenty already acknowledged by ARIKA going in — but to find tech and combos representative of ARIKA’s current direction. In that light, this combo video is a great intro to anyone that missed the beta. Check out the video above for insight into the playstyles, combos, and tricks that make Fighting EX Layer such an anticipated game for many.

“People Playing Games” podcast interviews FGC videographer Esteban Martinez

The kid version of esports videographer Esteban Martinez made anime music videos on Windows Movie Maker. He probably didn’t think it would lead to anything — he just made what he liked. Years later, he’s worked as a videographer for the Tekken World Tour, Capcom Cup, and has just started a partnership with Danny O’Dwyer’s NoClip to produce an FGC documentary.  You never know where your passions will take you.

That’s the over-arching lesson of Esteban’s story in his latest interview on the People Playing Games podcast. Hosted by Mike Andronico, People Playing Games allows members of the gaming industry to share their stories and insight with the world. This is far from the only time they’ve talked with members of the FGC: check out their playlist for interviews with Jake “Mustard” Neal, Michael Martin, and more here.

Check out these anti-big-body wall combos for Tekken 7’s Leo

Sometimes, it might not seem worth it to learn a character-specific combo in a fighting game. It’s easy to think “Oh, I probably won’t run into the Bears, anyway.”

When you do that, two things happen. Number one, you ignore the existence of popular tournament pick Jack-7, who also has an oddly-shaped hurtbox that can potentially mess up standard combos. Number two — and perhaps more importantly — you might be giving up big, easy damage.

Such is the case with Scallywag 93‘s Leo wall combo. This series does good damage and converts off of a wide variety of wall heights, making its inclusion in your Leo arsenal worth the time and effort spent learning it.

There’s still 1 frame of native offline lag in Tekken 7 on PC, and players are working to remove it

In the wake of rejoicing over the PlayStation 4’s input lag fix for Tekken 7, SRK forum member WAZAAAAA (with the help of Hardcore) discovered that there is still a wall between you and your inputs on PC.

It may only be 1 frame in size, but that one frame is potentially the difference between you blocking some lows on reaction or not. With that in mind, this Duo developed a tool to remove this frame of input lag from the PC version. You can read more about their tests to prove the existence of this input lag, overview of the tool, and their future plans for it here.
