“Two Minute Tutorials” teaches you how to learn from your Street Fighter V replays

When grinding out hours of matches online, it’s easy to lose sight of small mistakes made in each individual match. While going back and watching our worst moments doesn’t have the same thrill as playing the game itself, the extra effort might help you identify leaks in your game you didn’t know you had.

That’s the topic of PugilistPenguin‘s latest “Two-Minute Tutorials”, his excellent self-improvement series for Street Fighter V. Whether it’s fake pressure you were unaware you were falling for or punishment opportunities you missed, there’s always a way for an analytical player to improve if they put the work into it.

Mikado Arcade’s Super Street Fighter Carnival 2017 continues with 2vs2 World Heroes 2 tournament

“Super Street Fighter Carnival 2017” marches on! SSFC2017 is the currently-ongoing Japanese tournament series at Mikado Arcade for a wide variety of classic (and sometimes, obscure) arcade titles. If you missed the first few tournaments from SSFC2017, there’s a lot to catch up on!

SSFC2017 started a little over a month ago with SNK and ADK’s World Heroes 2. Now in the last quarter of the tournament series, we return to WH2 with a 2 vs. 2 team format. That’s twice as many people that you’ll get to see employing old school footsies and ridiculous infinites.

World Heroes 2 is a popular series in Mikado’s SSFC2017 format, though its two most-played entries at the arcade — this and World Heroes 2 Perfect –– are quite different from each other. If you want to compare, SSFC2017 has had its own tournament for that, too, which you can check out here.

Enjoying SSFC2017? You can follow the action by subscribing to Mikado’s official YouTube channel, or you can even try to catch Mikado Arcade when they livestream!

Learn how to deal with the many jab options of Tekken 7’s Jin

Jin Kazama might not have the Mishima jab confirms that his father employs, but he trades that for a long list of safe, pressure-oriented string mix-ups.

Once you block any of Jin’s 10 frame jabs (both his 1 and 2 are 10 frames!), you have a world of safe, irritating pokes that you must prepare for in advance if you intend to fight him. You may recall this is similar to the way Tekken 7‘s other Kazama is built, but Asuka could only wish she had something like Jin 2,4 i10 knockdown options to compliment her string mix-ups. Scallywag 93‘s new video will walk you through each of Jin’s options, and show you the most effective way to deal with each.

So if you’re a Ryu player and you want to avoid becoming Laura’s next grapplin’ bud, pdcsky‘s latest tutorial video is going to be perfect for you. In it they cover not only what you can punish each button with on block, but also the most optimal way for you to counter-hit Laura if she overextends herself on moves that are minus, but safe.

Beefy Smash Doods explain the execution behind new Donkey Kong Slap Cancel in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Tech teachers Beefy Smash Doods have put together a thorough examination of newly discovered Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tech for Nintendo’s iconic Donkey Kong, currently dubbed the “Slap Cancel.”

Donkey Kong’s down-special can be canceled instantly without any lag. Originally discovered by Proctavia_SSB, KDK, and DKWill, this cancel has two variations dependent upon the surface/stage combination it’s attempted on. Its 3-frame window for proper input is tight and it’s situational at best, but faking Slap into a stock-stealing grab could be a game-winning trick for you, if you’re willing to learn it!

Understand when to use Rage Drive or Rage Art with Tekken 7’s King

Once you are low on health in Tekken 7, you are given a choice: Rage Drive or Rage Art? For some characters one option is drastically superior to the other. For King players, though, both have potentially practical applications. You need to be aware of your current health — and your opponent’s tendencies — in order to make the “right” choice.

BoxeR-King, one of the leads in pushing the King meta, shared his quick breakdown on the pros and cons of each option. Check out his latest video for his reasoning on why you may opt for one option over another, in both combos and neutral.

“Raging Storm” CMV shows off Rock Howard’s combos from The King of Fighters XIV, XIII, 98UM, & 2002UM

It’s not often that a combo video can act as the de facto music video for a song. That’s the hook for YouTuber Coliflowerz‘s latest The King of Fighters combo video collaboration: “Raging Storm.”

With well-edited combo footage from The King of Fighters XIV, XIII, 98UM and 2002UM, this collaboration with musician Casual Toast is a vehicle for his cover of the Rock Howard’s KOFXIV theme song “Emergence,” taking it from fighting game BGM to what rightfully should be a King of Fighters anime opening.
