ITS Lil’ Majin shares cross-up setups for Tekken 7’s King

Cross-ups are not the most common thing you see in Tekken 7. They often require fairly elaborate and specific setups, and outside of the wall there’s just too many get-up possibilities for it to be considered a likelihood that you’d even land the cross-up. Not without player-specific insight, anyways.

Now take most of what I just said and throw it out the window. America’s King, Lil_Majin, is here with a great arsenal of tricky cross-up body splashes and dropkicks. These setups come from a wide variety of throws and juggle-enders, both mid field and at the wall. You’ll want to think twice about quick standing versus a King that knows these — but considering King’s arsenal of ground-hitting moves and ground throws, that might be just want he wants, too.

Mikado Arcade’s Super Street Fighter Carnival 2017 continues with Koihime Enbu tournament

“Super Street Fighter Carnival 2017” marches on! SSFC2017 is the currently ongoing Japanese tournament series at Mikado Arcade for a wide variety of classic (and sometimes, obscure) arcade titles. If you missed the first few tournaments from SSFC2017, there’s a lot to catch up on!

We live in a world where how “anime” a fighting game looks often tells you about its gameplay. By that logic, you’d expect the girls of Koihime Enbu (Developer Yeti‘s only fighting game to date), to spend about 90 seconds per round dashing through the air, filling the screen with shmup-like projectiles. If this is your first time watching Koihime Enbu, you might be surprised to see how grounded and patient the gameplay actually is. There’s a small but passionate scene for this game, which is also available on Steam for anyone looking to pick up a footsie-focused indie fighter.

Mikado is constantly uploading a wide variety of arcade entertainment on their channel, so be sure to check them out. You can also try to catch them when they livestream!

Sharpen your scythe with this Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] combo video for Gordeau

As the collective anime fighting game community hypes themselves up over BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, it’s always good to remember that you can reference (most) of these characters in their original series. Ragna Daimond‘s examination of Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st]‘s Gordeau is particularly timely, then, considering the scythe-wielders recent reveal announcement for ArcSys’ cross-over fighter.

Under Night In-Birth‘s giant normals and Gordeau’s combination of command grabs and slides will certainly make him stand out in BBxTB. While the west is still waiting patiently for UNIST release date, there’s still plenty of footage you can check out from the many UNIST events run in Japan, if you don’t have a Japanese PSN account to try UNIST on.

Explore the set-play options off Young Zeku’s Bushin Gokusanage in Street Fighter V

In Street Fighter V, Young Zeku’s target combo “Bushin Gokusanage” (LP, MP, HP, D+HK) is a three-punch string into a flipping attack-throw. Since this target combo switches sides on hit, it’s also a very quick way to get out of the corner and turn the tide in your favor.

Since the attack-throw portion of the target combo has a throw’s knockdown properties, the opponent is limited in how they can get up off the ground. NurseLee ran with this to come up with some safe wake-up pressure and a throw/medium kick mix-up off of a no-recovery wake-up. A lot of the tech we’ve had submitted here at SRK has so far focused on Old Zeku, but as you can see, Zeku’s got great knockdown pressure no matter what stance he takes!

Tempo Storm’s Alex Myers shares with Red Bull Esports how he’s made it as a Street Fighter pro

Alex Myers had a brief moment at Red Bull Battle Grounds this weekend for a chat on how he “made it” in esports — and how you can, too.

“Don’t get defeated easily. Everyone’s going to get bodied at first. If you really want to do this, you just keep doing it,” Alex Myers said, when asked what advice he’d give for anyone wanting to follow in his esports footsteps.

It’s clear these are words he lives by: in a year where the Cammy pro went from being dropped by Ronin to getting signed by esports giants Tempo Storm, Alex has defined himself on determination and hard work, regardless of what he was facing.

KYSG shows off the ridiculous damage potential of Lucky Chloe in Tekken 7

Ignoring for a second where your opinion may stand on Tekken 7‘s Lucky Chloe as a character, there’s an undeniable fact about the official mascot of G Corp — she hits like a truck.

Whatever weaknesses the acrobatic idol may have in neutral and punishment, she makes up for in absurd damage potential. This is true of both her normal bread and butter combos, and of the flashy juggles put together here by Japanese player KYSG. Regardless of whether you stick to the standard DF+1 filler or go for a more stylish dance, make sure you’re always cashing out your conversions for the highest damage you can perform.

Stagger your Mismagius setups for increased pressure and guard break opportunities in Pokkén Tournament DX

Mismagius is an odd support in Pokkén Tournament DX. It’s great for a brief lock-down and chip damage, but its slow summon time makes it to vulnerable outside of specific knockdown setups. It also goes away very quickly once your opponent blocks it — assuming, of course, you don’t manipulate the situation.

Because you can push your opponent’s hurtbox with forward momentum, you can create situations where Mismagius “follows” you, causing one of its many hits to stagger one at a time. This completely prevents your opponent from escaping as long as you know how to “fill the gaps” of Mismagius’s hits, and allows potential guard break setups as well, depending upon your character.

Spooky breaks down the Tekken World Tour build of Tekken 7’s Geese

Early impressions of new characters are always incomplete and inevitably colored by the opinions of the player. That’s why I think Spooky’s analysis of Geese’s early moveset is more than just entertaining, it’s insightful. He got a lot of play time, got to hear a wide variety of opinions from other players, and managed to retain a fairly complete picture of what Geese has to offer for Tekken 7.

If you have around 20 minutes to spare and want to start building your notes for Geese’s release, Spooky‘s analysis video is a great place to start. He goes through all of the previously recorded moves from Jebailey and attempts to break down the properties of each move as he remembers from his TWT Finals experience.
