Nsurgo Sakura, E. Honda, and Blanka-chan skate decks now available for pre-order

Last year, Nsurgo premiered a series of officially-licensed Street Fighter skate decks — that made quite a big splash among the attendees of Evo, and continue to garner attention among other fans of FGC-related merchandise. Recently, the brand has announced that three more World Warriors will be immortalized in skate deck form: E.Honda, Sakura, and the “lovable” Blanka-chan.

While these three missed the last round, these new decks will be given the special edition treatment, with the Sakura deck expected to be produced in a particularly limited quantity.

All three decks are set to release in July, but are all currently available for pre-order on Nsurgo’s official website.

theScore esports covers the origins of the “Kappa” emote and its impact on meme history

Those who have been users of Twitch since its early days as an up-and-coming streaming platform are sure to recognize the emote of a smug, grayscale face that is known and beloved by many as Kappa. Over time, this emote, used to denote trolling or sarcastic banter, has transcended the world of FGC humor and branched out into the broader, bewildering world of internet meme culture.

Though Kappa has become the most-used emote in Twitch history and has arguably become the universal symbol for sarcasm, even its most loyal users may be unfamiliar with its origins. Whether you are among those who wonder from where Kappa came, or even what it means, theScore esports have you covered in their latest video. They take you down the Kappa hole to the very beginning of The King of Sarcasm’s reign — and even employ the help of a professor of semiotics (the study of signs and symbols).

All Kappas aside, the video is actually quite informative and is just one example of the impact that modern gaming has had on todays’ popular culture. Check out theScore’s What is Kappa? history lesson below and — if you can help it — try to keep a straight face.

Check out Persona Entertainment’s electrifying combo video for Benimaru in The King of Fighters XIV

Benimaru Nikaido is a common pick among top players in The King of Fighters XIV, and it’s not just for his unrivaled handsomeness or impeccable fashion sense. If you’re looking to achieve high damage and get the corner advantage as quickly as possible, Benimaru is definitely your man, and, of course, it doesn’t hurt to look incredibly stylish while doing so.

The trick with Benimaru is keeping your opponents at close range, since most of his moves require close-quarter contact — but also have impressive wall carry. Plus, his advanced cancel links, though highly damaging, require even more meticulous timing than the average SNK character’s.

Persona’s video demonstrates that if you can make the most of the corner advantage that you wiill most likely have while maining Benimaru, the results are as fabulous as the man himself. You can check it out below, and for more from Persona Entertainment, have a look at his combo video for the hard-hitting dragon gal Mui Mui.

Get to know Mayor Cody ahead of his arrival in this Street Fighter V introduction video

In the latest video in the Street Fighter V: Character Introduction Series, Capcom officially invites you to spend some time with Mayor Cody Travers. The brief-yet-informative video gives an insightful rundown on the new moves and strategies that we’ve seen from the new Cody in his gameplay trailer and during the WinnerStaysOn Cody Showcase.

Cody’s evolution into an upstanding citizen does seem to come with some noticeable changes to his moveset, most notably the absence of his dubiously-named Criminal Upper special attack. However, as the video begins to break down the details of his two V-Triggers, you’ll see that he is still not above using knives and pipes to get the job done.

Despite a few obvious updates to the bored, brawling inmate we all know grew to know and love, Cody’s character introduction video makes him look like an exciting new addition to the Street Fighter V roster. You’ll be able to judge for yourself when he is released later today!

Locke Cole steals the show in his Dissidia Final Fantasy NT launch trailer

Final Fantasy VI‘s swashbuckling treasure hunter Locke Cole has just been released for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. It wasn’t long ago that he was revealed to be the 2nd of six DLC characters planned, with the first being Final Fantasy XII‘s bureaucratic boss, Vayne Carudas Solidor.

According to the hints dropped by Square Enix regarding the identities of the upcoming fighters, the next reveal will be of a female from the “newer half” of the Final Fantasy franchise. While that certain doesn’t narrow things down too much, the next character should arrive in around two months, so fans have about that long to speculate.

Season pass holders can put Locke’s “treasure hunting” abilities to good use in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT today — and everyone can check out his nostalgia-filled launch trailer below.
