Learn to wield the gunblade with ease: Maximilian’s Squall breakdown for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT

January 30th is just around the corner, which means that fans will be able to enjoy the full console version of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT very soon.  Continuing to help prepare those anxious for this game’s release, Maximilian has created yet another character breakdown, this time focusing on the highly-popular (and also highly-unpopular!) Squall Leonheart.

If  you are among those who claim Final Fantasy VIII as their favorite game of the franchise, there is a good chance that the gunblade-wielder will be the leader of your three-man team. If that is the case for you, there’s quite a bit you need to know before you go off hacking and blasting on the battlefield, especially if you want to seize victory (and impress Rinoa). Max has got you potential Squall mains covered in his breakdown video, which you can check out below. (If you’re more of a Final Fantasy VII fan with a dark side and a fondness for very long swords, be sure to check out his Sephiroth breakdown as well.)

Skullgirls Mobile 2.0, self-published by Autumn Games, currently available for iOS and Android

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about Skullgirls Mobile, the accessory to the popular Autumn Games-produced fighting game, which had its own unique playstyle and held exclusive story details. It’s likely the silence had to do with Autumn Games’ dissolved partnership with LINE Corporation, the wildly popular and lucrative Japanese messaging company who was in charge of publishing Skullgirls Mobile.

Despite the publisher woes, Skullgirls Mobile version 2.0 was scheduled and has recently released as planned, but it came a day early and with a little surprise detail: That it was self-published by Autumn Games, and would not be connected to LINE Corporation moving forward.

Though it’s good news that the game is back on track, the new direction could be a bummer for those who were hoping to hang on to their save data from the old version. There was apparently a short window where those who logged in within it could retrieve their save data from the original LINE version, but to those unaware of this detail, they will most likely have to start the game over.

This seems to be a new beginning for Autumn and their mobile game, and for all we know, the new and improved Skullgirls Mobile could be worth an encore completion. You can be the judge yourself as Skullgirls Mobile 2.0 is currently available for free on iOS and Android.

Art of Fighting 2 now available on Nintendo Switch; The King of Fighters ’98 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Fans of the present-gen ports of classic SNK games can rejoice at a couple new additions to the family. The Art of Fighting 2 is currently available for the Nintendo Switch, and The King of Fighters ’98 has been ported to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The Art of Fighting 2 was released for Xbox One back in June of last year, and it looks like the Nintendo Switch’s catalog of NEO GEO fighters already rivals that of the Microsoft console’s healthy collection. In regard to the The King of Fighters ’98 port, it is important to note that it is the original arcade version, not the Ultimate Match that has the extend roster and is currently popular for its online match support on PC.

Still, if you would like to pick it up for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One — or The Art of Fighting 2 up on the Nintendo Switch — ports of these classic titles are now available for reasonable prices on their respective consoles’ online stores.

No more content updates planned for Nintendo’s ARMS, only balance changes

A translated blog post from Nintendo reveals that ARMS‘ version 5 update will be the game’s last. Though — reportedly — balance changes will continue to be implemented, the game will not receive any new content.

At this point, it’s hard to say if this news is good or bad for the zany long-range boxing game. It made quite a splash at E3 2017 (which was less than a year ago) and for the title to “fizzle out” so soon seems far-off from what Nintendo might have had planned. Though it is arguable that the game has a substantial amount of content already, and that Nintendo could be gearing up to launch a new ARMS-related IP. Again, it’s too soon to tell, but the ceasing of updates of this manner is sure to raise many questions among fans and critics alike.

If you’re curious about how ARMS stacks up as a fighter but have yet to check it out yourself, check out what our own Keagan “Interrobang!?” Spindler has to say about ARMS‘ competitive future.

Learn to balance speed and weight with this combo breakdown for Bob in Tekken 7

HurtboxTV’s new combo breakdown puts an emphasis on speed and weight, as they show you how to pull off a few core strings for Tekken 7‘s Bob. The big-body brawler made his first appearance in Tekken 6, and his finesse as a fighter — and impeccable fashion sense — have made him a player favorite ever since.

Much like his superior physique, Bob’s movelist is pretty massive in comparison to many members of Tekken 7‘s roster. Though he has many moves that make for great pressure and mix-up options, it can be difficult to narrow down exactly which moves to put together for practical combos with optimal damage.

Thankfully for ambitious Bob mains, HurtboxTV’s got you covered in the combo breakdown below. (And if Bob’s not your cup of tea, be sure to check out their other Tekken 7 combo breakdown videos.)
