Last week in the Elite: Dangerous newsletter, it was casually announced that the game’s offline single player experience was being nixed. Offline play was a singular promise made to backers during the game’s Kickstarter initiative. The announcement that it was being removed as one of the core game features caused quite a stir in the community. In a new interview with Eurogamer, Frontier’s Dave Braben explains the decision.

2p.com has some breaking news coming out of Korea’s G-Star 2014 gaming convention. NCSoft has announced that both Blade & Soul and Aion will be heading to mobile platforms. The latest patch for Destiny has been deployed. Among the usual bug fixes and feature enhancement comes the welcome news that voice chat amongst teammates is now part of the game. Players placed on teams via matchmaking will be able to join a specific voice enabled channel designed specifically for their team.
