Niantic and WB Games have announced the first Harry Potter: Wizards Unite fan festival. The event will take place over the Labor Day weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana. The event will provide attendees with “a variety of interactive experiences bridging the in-game experience in the real world”.
Grand Theft Auto Online players can earn some serious cash this week thanks to double and triple GTA$ and RP in Hotring Circuit, Issi Classic and RC Bandito Races. Stunt Races and Time Trials are also offering players double GTA$ and RP as well. Players can also score the Nagasaki White Hoodie just for logging in this week.

The Destiny’s Sword KickStarter is in its final hours before wrapping up and the team has announced that it has met its funding goal. In addition, 2Dogs also informed backers and fans that developers will be on hand at this year’s PAX West along with a playable demo so attendees can try out the game. In addition, if the KS initiative passes the 200 backer mark, the demo will be released to all backers after PAX West.
It may be the start of the Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers early access period, but that doesn’t mean things are going smoothly. Players have been reporting issues for the last couple of hours and it turns out that FFXIV servers are under DDoS attack. The attacks began at about 12:30 pm Pacific / 3:30 pm Eastern today and Square is looking into countermeasures.
The Fractured team has let its community know that Alpha 1 – Test 2 will be kicking off on Wednesday, July 10th at 7:00 am Pacific / 10:00 am Eastern. Developers have been hard at work addressing community feedback and squashing bugs from the first test that was held in April. In addition, housing, crafting, spells, new equipment and creatures have all been added for Test 2.
The Ship of Heroes team has published a new video to showcase a new travel power called Superspeed. This travel power is, according to devs, faster than flight, though it “is balanced by the need to go around obstacles”. When SoH launches, a third travel power will also be included, teleportation.
Believe it or not, but the next great fantasy/horror comic series is coming from the home of Superman and Batman: DC Comics! The series is called “The Last God” and is penned by Phillip Kennedy Johnson. The plan is to release a dozen comics in the series with the first issue headed out on October 30th. The series begins with a history lesson where a fellowship of adventurers defeated a demon tyrant. But 30 years later, “a new generation of heroes” finds out that that may not be true.
One of the most exciting hardware launches of the year is finally here: The Valve Index will begin shipping in mere days, and we’ve been lucky enough to spend the last two weeks testing it out for ourselves. While the competition seems content to focus on mobile solutions, Valve has been hard at work creating the enthusiast VR headset we’ve been waiting for. Did they succeed? Join us as we find out.
