EVE Online – The Scope – Breaking News: Drifter Invasion

EVE Online capsuleers will need to be wary when taking to the skies as a galactic Drifter invasion has begun. In a new “news report” called The Scope (direct from New Eden), the devastating news of the Drifter invasion is detailed. “CCP reached out to the Drifters for comment, but they rejected the team’s hailing frequencies. The RPG Files: The Sinking City Review – PC

I’m not a big Lovecraft buff, but I’ve always appreciated the tangential games and what little bits of knowledge of Cthulu-inspired lore I’ve picked up along the way. The existential cosmic horror is nightmarish indeed, but few games have really tapped into the feelings and stories presented by the hellscape Lovecraft invented. Frogware’s The Sinking City, thankfully, is one such game. This is our review.

Guild Wars 2: End of the Beginning Part 2

In my last column recapping the story of Guild Wars 2 so far, I left off discussing Scarlet and the role she played in forcing us into direct conflict with Mordremoth. While Scarlet did speed up our confrontation with Mordremoth, she probably did us a favor since he had the potential to be a real pain considering his powers after just one Elder Dragon was killed were already almost enough to do us in. As with before, if you haven’t played through Season 2, this will contain spoilers.

Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers Kicks Off Early Access

The time Final Fantasy XIV players have been waiting for has finally arrived. The early access period for the Shadowbringers expansion has started with eager players flocking to FFXIV servers. In addition, Square Enix has re-released the opening trailer complete with the official lyrics to the theme song.

Bandai Namco Announces Blue Protocol, an Anime Styled Online ARPG for PC

Bandai Namco has announced a new anime-styled action RPG called Blue Protocol for PC. The game is being developed by Project Blue Sky, a team made up of veterans from Bandai Namco Online and Bandai Namco Studio, and it is being built on Unreal Engine 4. There are few other details and only a single screenshot of the game in development, but we do have an English-language description of the game.

Blizzard Introduces Another World of Warcraft Cash Shop Mount

The World of Warcraft team has introduced another cash shop mount that can be purchased as part of a 6-month subscription plan or individually. The half-year subscription plus the Sylverian Dreamer mount is $77.94, the equivalent of $12.99 per month. The mount can be purchased separately for $25.00. Players who already have a running 6-month subscription will receive the mount for free sometime in early July.

Torchlight Frontiers ‘Beast Buddies Update’ Coming on July 16th

The Torchlight Frontiers team is hard at work on the next major update to the game. Called “Beast Buddies”, the patch will include pet companions. While they’ve always had helpful abilities to share with their player companion, pets in Torchlight Frontiers will be upping their game. Players will be able to collect a number of pets and swap them out as well as collect pet skills to assign to their companion.

Starbase – Gunfights & Weapons Feature Video

The latest Starbase video is out and about, this time featuring both weapons and gunfights. Viewers will be treated to a visual of how combat will look, at least in this early stage, when the voxel-vertex-based space-themed MMO is released.

Dauntless Soundtrack Released as the Game Gains Another Behemoth

Dauntless has been updated to bring a number of big quality of life improvements to the game. Notably, players will find a new streaming install client, new weapon demo videos, the Terra elemental effect and, best of all, the Winterhorn Skraev behemoth. The Winterhorn Skraev comes with new abilities and an all-new look.
