The 2018 Golden Joystick Awards: Street Fighter V nominated for esports game of the year, Dragon Ball FighterZ for best visual design, and more

Street Fighter V and Capcom got a nod each — but Dragon Ball FighterZ is in three different categories.

Voting has opened for the 2018 Golden Joystick Awards, hosted by GamesRadar. Offering potential accolades to games of all genres from 2018 (and before, and even beyond), you can vote for your own picks now, until October 25 — and a few fighting games have turned up on their list this year.

Street Fighter V received a nomination for “eSports Game of the Year”, but it wasn’t alone: Dragon Ball FighterZ also shares the honor, along with two additional nominations for “Best Visual Design” and “Best Competitive Game”. Capcom also received a nomination for “Studio of the Year” on the merit of Monster Hunter World, and to top it all off, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate makes an appearance on their nominations for “Most Wanted Game” for upcoming titles.

You can show your own love for your favorite games by heading over to GamesRadar and voting. The results of the voting will be livestreamed on November 16th.

Yugi Moto is ready to duel in his JUMP FORCE official reveal trailer

The Yu-Gi-Oh! duelist draws a perfect hand and is ready to battle in the upcoming arena fighter.

Thanks to V-Jump we already knew Yugi Moto was joining the roster of Bandai Namco’s Shonen Jump-themed arena fighter JUMP FORCE, and that he was bringing some powerful friends along; now we’ve got his official reveal trailer, too. From the Bandai Namco press release:

The new trailer highlights the recently announced Yugi Muto from the long-running popular Yu-Gi-Oh! series. Fighting along the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge, Yugi can summon powerful allies such as Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl, and Slifer the Sky Dragon to help him defeat his foes.

Tune in to see the best of the best in California strive to up their game in these weekly battles at Esports Arena, brought to you by Level|Up Series!

WNF x Orange County features weekly tournaments in the following titles: Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Tekken 7, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, and Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2. They also feature monthly events for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, Pokkén Tournament DX, and ARMS. Other games appear seasonally or for special events. Capcom’s new weekly livestream continues tonight!

Capcom’s new weekly streaming show Capcom Connect returns tonight at 8:00 PM PT, streaming live from Esports Arena Oakland! Tune in at Capcom Fighters on Twitch.

The stream will once again feature event and news recaps, Street Fighter V matches with guest players — this time featuring XSK_Samurai and AfroROM — and art and cosplay from Street Fighter fans. You can also win content codes by viewing.

You will have the chance to win various codes for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition just by watching and interacting with our social channels. In the afternoon before each show, we’ll tweet out a specific hashtag on the Street Fighter or Capcom Fighters Twitter account. All you need to do is use that hashtag in a tweet of your own before the drawing begins at around 8:15 PM PT. During the show, we’ll randomly choose winners and announce them on-stream. After the show, expect a Direct Message from the Street Fighter or Capcom Fighters accounts with your code. The codes are currently only for North America.

E. Honda master Kusumondo joins the list of Japanese players invited to compete in Super Street Fighter II Turbo at Tournament of Legends III

Another Japanese legend joins the battle!

The fight at the upcoming Tournament of Legends III promises to be a fierce one, made even fiercer by the Japanese player invites joining the qualifying competitors in Super Street Fighter II Turbo next month. The fourth invite has been revealed to be none other than Kusumondo, the E. Honda “Yokozuna”!

From ST Revival:

Kusumondo’s resume is quite impressive to say the least. He is a former X-MANIA champion. He won Kakerugo 5on5 in 2015. He’s also competed internationally on many occasions, including winning Ultra 2 Old 2 Furious and X-Street Battle in 2017. He finished 2nd at Canada Cup in both 2016 and 2017 to Mattsun but did win the 3on3 tournament last year at Canada Cup. But possibly his most famous match came at EVO 2014 in the TOURNAMENT OF LEGENDS I grand finals, as he and MAO had an epic battle that went to the very final round!

Kusomondo joins Mattsun, Komoda, Murasaki, and one other yet-unrevealed Japanese invite at TOIII. The Tournament of Legends III will take place at Canada Cup 2018 in Toronto on October 26-28. There are two qualifying events remaining before Canada Cup: The Fall Classic and East Coast Throwdown. There will also be Last Chance Qualifiers at Canada Cup itself, so there are still plenty of opportunities to prove your strength in Super Turbo! Currently-qualified competitors include Justin Wong, Chi-Rithy, eltrouble, Atari, and others; head over to ST Revival to see the full list!
