Call It a Comeback: Street Fighter V Players Fight Down to the “Magic Pixel” in This Video Compilation

The addition of the grey life mechanic to Street Fighter V definitely pushed the franchise in a more aggressive direction; but comparatively, the removal of chip-damage KOs (except from Critical Arts) gives SFV players an ability to turn the tables even greater than Street Fighter IV’s love-it-or-hate-it Revenge Gauge.

In this new compilation, XusesGB features amazing Street Fighter comebacks that have to be seen to be believed. The moral of the story: in SFV, the fight’s never over until it’s really over.

Urien’s Street Fighter V Powers Detailed, More Information on September Updates to Come at TGS

Street Fighter V fans have almost certainly already taken a look at Capcom’s new official trailer for Urien; the Capcom-Unity blog has followed up with their usual breakdown of what the Illuminati’s number two brings to the SFV arena.

sfv_character_art-urien

As listed in the blog:

First introduced in Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact, Urien is the Vice President of Illuminati and wants nothing but to take over Illuminati from his older brother, Gill, and destroy Shadaloo. Urien has complete confidence in his own physicality and this elitism shows itself through his sadistic and tyrannical tendencies. He gains joy only from dominating others and having them crumble in the face of his incredible power.

V-Skill: Metallic Aura

Urien’s skin tone changes and he can absorb a single hit as he rushes forward in a brutal shoulder tackle.

V-Trigger: Aegis Reflector

One of the 66 Illuminati Secret Arts, this energy barrier reflects projectiles and will knock unblocking opponents back if they make contact. Directional input while activating V-trigger controls where the barrier will appear; Urien can project two of them during V-trigger to set up some sadistic zoning and juggle scenarios.

Critical Art: Dominate Crush

The name says it all! Urien channels his powerful energy into the ground to raise a “pillar of destruction.”

Of course, those who have played the “A Shadow Falls” General Story Mode have had a chance to try out these powers already!

Capcom-Unity confirms that Urien’s official release is indeed due in September, but have yet to offer a solid date. They also indicate that more information about Urien’s release and the previously mentioned September update content will be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show next week–so stay locked on!

Hit Back Harder with These Balrog Crush Counter Setups for Street Fighter V

Capitalizing on a good Crush Counter can definitely turn the tide in a round of Street Fighter V. So in addition to having strong punishes in your pocket, it’s important to be ready to really lay that damage on when you get that counter-hit in.

For fans of the Crazy Buffalo, mickdo8640 has put together this knockdown counter-hit tutorial video for Street Fighter V’s Balrog; demonstrating some nasty combos ending in knockdown, then breaking down the follow-up attacks you can use for various recoveries–at midscreen, or in the corner–to continue dishing out the serious damage SFV’s Balrog is capable of.

ZeRo Completes His Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Tier List: High and Top Tiers Added

It was quite a while ago that Team SoloMid’s ZeRo started his own personal Super Smash Bros. for Wii U tier list–back in June, in fact–weighing in on how he felt the roster stacked up after the 1.1.6 patch based on his own admittedly subjective experience and observations. He originally began from the top down; after neglecting to continue his list for a while, he recently resumed a revised version from the bottom up–and that list has now been completed.

We recently reported on his new bottom and low and mid and upper tiers; to finish it all off, here are his high and top tier videos:

Since first starting this list, it seems ZeRo’s had a change of heart on a few fighters: no longer as confident in Ryu, ZeRo has moved the wandering warrior down while bumping up Sonic and–to the surprise of many players–now claims Rosalina & Luma belong in the number one spot. Midgar’s Cloud fell in ZeRo’s esteem all the way from #2 to #6, while mainstay Fox climbed a bit–even Bayonetta got a post-nerf boost.

The list is complete, but the debates will undoubtedly continue.

F.A.N.G Makes Shadaloo Proud in This Street Fighter V Combo Exhibition

Being Shadaloo’s Number Two requires inspiring a certain level of terror in your enemies, and while his sycophantic scraping to Lord Bison might not do him any favors in the intimidation department, F.A.N.G’s got the goods when it’s time to fling some poison. In the combo exhibition video below, you can check out a sample of the nasty cross-ups and juggling that F.A.N.G can dish out, including some sinister corner shenanigans, and a 30-hit combo (with dizzy, naturally).

Victory Is Beautiful: Ensure Yours with These Meaty Combos for Vega in Street Fighter V

Effective use of meaty attacks is fundamental to Street Fighter V success: and Vega is no exception! If you fight to find beauty in the suffering of your ugly opponents, you’ll want to take note of this batch of meaty combos from NurseLee, focusing on using Vega’s slide after knockdown to land those meaty hits. As usual, NurseLee’s video includes input notation, slow motion, and variations for quick rise and back recovery to help you study the techniques and ensure you retain your title as a Heavenly King of Shadaloo.

NurseLee has also brought us SFV meaty combos for Ken and Necalli.

Behold Urien’s Reset Potential for Street Fighter V

We’re still waiting for a release date for the final member of Street Fighter V’s Season One DLC fighters, Urien; and while the fully playable version of the character is expected soon, players have had access to an earlier build of Urien as part of the General Story update. This of course has allowed intrepid PC modders to liberate Urien from our limited story mode access to explore what he’s capable of in more depth.

In the video below, Ultimacloud demonstrates the sort of nasty resets Urien is capable of, particularly through the use of his Aegis Reflector V-trigger. This gives us a good idea of the sort of scary shenanigans the rest of us can expect when he officially launches–but naturally, the final version Capcom eventually brings us might change slightly compared to what we see here.
