Check Out These “Deep Meaty” Combos for Chun-Li & Guile in Street Fighter V

Good timing on meaty attacks is an important part of keeping the pressure on your downed opponent in Street Fighter V–correct timing keeps your offence on, and even better can stuff attempted wake-up attacks and open up potent combo opportunities. In the video below, LnGrinta shows some examples of “deep meaties”–using moves that have a lot of active frames to cover as much time as possible and start some nasty combos if unblocked.

Check out even more meaty combos from Street Fighter V in this video from desk.

Snake Eyez Follows His Fist in This Street Fighter V Ryu Online Compilation

Red Bull’s Darryl “Snake Eyez” Lewis was once synonymous with his Street Fighter main, Zangief–but after expressing discontent with Street Fighter V’s additional three frames of input latency over Ultra Street Fighter IV and its impact on his reactive approach with the Red Cyclone, we’ve seen him revert to his former fighter of choice: Ryu. His SFV Ryu has already made some tournament appearances; check out these online matches from CFN–compiled by XusesGB–to see how strong Snake Eyez’s Ryu can be.

Speaking of high-level Ryu players: XusesGB recently also compiled some of Daigo Umehara’s online fights in the CFN worldwide top 5.

See Who’s Currently Making the Most (Real) Fight Money Playing Street Fighter V

When it comes to playing fighting games as a pro, how lucrative the results are can vary widely based on what the player accomplishes: namely, what event(s) they manage to win or place high at. Red Bull eSports compiled this breakdown of Street Fighter V’s top ten earners on the pro circuit–and the disparity in dollars from #10 to #1 is significant.

10. Hiroyuki “Eita” Nagata: $3,775.20

9. EVB’s Chris Tatarian: $3,960.50

8. YOUDEAL’s Tatsuya Haitani: $5,428.31

7. BX3/TP-Link’s Arman ‘Phenom’ Hanjani: $7,000.00

6. Goichi “Go1” Kishida: $7,884.32

5. Evil Geniuses’ Justin Wong: $10,421.19

4. YOUDEAL’s Atsushi “Yukadon” Fujimura: $12,107.00

3. Razer’s Keita “Fuudo” Ai: $23,214.00

2. Taniguchi “Tokido” Hajime: $23,274.50

1.  Lee “Infiltration” Seon-woo: $79,642.00

No surprise that making the finals at Evo 2016 is a common thread in the players on this list, with Justin Wong and Tokido being the higher-earning exceptions.

Finish Survival Mode in No Time with This Guide for Ibuki in Street Fighter V

VesperArcade continues  his series of video guides to completing Street Fighter V’s Survival Mode on Hard difficulty–this time focusing on the speedy kunoichi Ibuki, considered by VesperArcade to be a tougher run through the mode, due to her low (900 HP) health. Check out his tips for surviving those grueling 50 fights in the video below.

Of course, with haunts promising easy ways to get those costume colors with tomorrow’s update, the motivation to endure Survival Mode is lessened–but there’s still Fight Money and PSN trophies to be earned by taking it on.

Check out VesperArcade’s Survival Mode tips for Alex and Balrog here.

Yukadon Joins the YOUDEAL Team Alongside Haitani

Evo 2016 third-place finisher Fujimura “Yukadon” Atsushi–enjoying a great part of the spotlight at Evo’s Mandalay Bay Street Fighter V finals, for his fierce Nash mirror match against L.I. Joe that resulted in Joe’s elimination–has joined fellow competitor Haitani in sponsorship under the YOUDEAL banner.

Yukadon also placed second earlier in the year at Tokyo Button Mashers, and currently sits at 322 points on the Capcom Pro Tour. The announcement has been met with congratulations from his new YOUDEAL teammate Haitani, and fellow Evo finalist HM|GO1; we can certainly look forward to Yukadon’s Nash posing a threat to competitors at SFV events to come!

Defend the Midscreen with This Guile V-Trigger Setup for Street Fighter V

Since his addition to the Street Fighter V roster, Guile’s V-trigger Sonic Boom barrage has become a regular feature (and threat) of his play, both as a combo extender and a pressure tool. If you’re a Guile player looking for some variation on his V-trigger options at midscreen, check out this setup from James Chen, from UltraChenTV. The key here is to utilize the final (or the last two) Sonic Boom(s) in the chain to create high-pressure mix-ups and ambiguous cross-ups.

There’s more Guile tech in our most recent Street Fighter V roundup as well.

Ryu’s Search for Battle Leads Him Out of Street Fighter and into the Real World

Forever in search of the next fight, the next challenge–where does Ryu’s search for meaning in battle lead him, when all digital opponents have been overcome? He’s mastered the Mu no Ken to calm the dark power of the Satsui no Hado, but is that all there is to becoming a true martial artist? There must be something more to strive for, a new battle to fight…

The fight is everything.

Thus, Ryu follows his fist out of the digital realm to seek new challenges in the real world. But he’s about to learn that as a video game sprite, there are certain limitations to what he can achieve in a three-dimensional setting.

Watch him learn this lesson in the video below, courtesy of BombArrow.
