Check Out This Excerpt from “Metagame”, Travis Beauchamp’s Upcoming Super Smash Bros. Melee Documentary

In addition to filming at the event and hosting his panel at Super Smash Con this weekend, Travis “Samox” Beauchamp–director of the Super Smash Bros. Melee documentary “The Smash Brothers”–has provided us an excerpt from his follow-up project “Metagame”. The clip is now available to view through his Twitter feed, or directly on YouTube at East Point Pictures.

The excerpt opens with discussion of 2008’s Pound 3 event, thought by some to be the “last big Melee tournament” due to Super Smash Bros. Brawl’s release (how wrong they were!), and showcases Mango’s fierce battle through Pound 3’s Losers bracket.

Atlus USA Urges King of Fighters XIV Players with Early Copies to Not Share Spoilers

Reports of retailers breaking the August 23, 2016 street date for the release of The King of Fighters XIV have been popping up on Twitter; several users have posted pictures of their pre-embargo copy, while others express their frustration with having to continue waiting for their preorder copy to arrive on the legitimate street date. While KOFXIV’s publisher Atlus has no direct means to enforce retailers to honor the street date, they have released the following statement encouraging players to hold off spreading any spoilers about the game until the official release date has arrived.

Based on further clarifications on Twitter, Atlus extends this request to streaming regular gameplay footage, as well as parts of the story mode.

The full background stories of each of the game’s teams also recently went live on SNK’s official site.

Watch Daigo Umehara Battle in CFN’s Upper Street Fighter V Ranks

Daigo Umehara continues to grow as an FGC celebrity: his recently-translated book was a hot item at Evo 2016, and the digital Kindle version is now available Amazon.com, introducing more readers to Umehara’s own fighting-game philosophies.

XusesGB has compiled this footage from the Capcom Fighters Network, showcasing Umehara’s (“memememe”) high-level Ryu play as he fights to reach the top of the Street Fighter V online ladder. You can see the determination in the Beast’s solid, deliberate technique.

As of this writing, Umehara is sitting at #5 in the CFN global ranks; the fight goes on.

Everyone Joins the Secret Society (as Urien) in This Street Fighter V PC Mod

Previously, we’ve seen mods for Street Fighter V that replace everyone on the roster with Laura, or even the mysterious Q; now–undoubtedly thanks to the version of the character that’s playable in the General Story mode–you can see what the SFV cast would look like when replaced by the power-mad Illuminati vice-president Urien.

This model-swap also makes use of a costume mod that brings in Urien’s classic Street Fighter III outfit, rather than his more business-oriented Street Fighter V attire. As is usual for this sort of mod, the result of grafting Urien’s body over those of the other fighters can have strange results.

Rock Out with ChocoBlanka’s Band “Wind God Fist” as They Perform Guile’s Street Fighter Theme

Evil Geniuses’ Yuko “ChocoBlanka” Momochi is well-known for her Street Fighter play and her contributions to YouTube’s Momochi & ChocoBlanka TV; but you may not have known that she also has a rock band called Wind God Fist (with Choco), and here they are providing an excellent performance of that popular Street Fighter theme that happens to go with everything:

Apparently, the band is familiar with their source of inspiration (although Tekken seems to be their preference, as indicated by the band name).

Use These Balrog V-Trigger Resets to Safely Pummel Opponents in Street Fighter V

Brian Foster has taken a break from the usual Necalli tech to showcase these safe Crazy Rush resets for Street Fighter V’s violent boxer Balrog. His V-trigger allows you to pile on massive damage and stun, but having a plan for both getting into the Rush and ending it safely will prevent your pummeling spree becoming turnaround for your opponent.
