Claim Your Sacrifice with these Street Fighter V Necalli Combos

Already recognized as the epitome of rushdown when in his regular form, Street Fighter V’s Necalli really shines once Torrent of Power–his V-Trigger–is activated. In the video below, Brian_F demonstrates some potent applications of Necalli’s target combo, which allow the fighter to focus on building V-Meter and maintaining pressure instead of simply dishing out raw damage.

The video covers multiple variations to overcome the possible escapes and counterattacks opponents will try to use to deny Necalli’s hunger, such as rolling knock down recovery and the use of 3-frame normals.

Those looking to further their Necalli knowledge can pick up more tips in this punish guide.

CFN Portal Dug Up Some Zombie-Themed Concept Art for Street Fighter V

Following in the footsteps of Ultra Street Fighter IV’s “Horror” costume pack, the CFN Portal website has posted five examples of how some members of the Street Fighter V cast would look–as shambling, flesh-ravening undead. Described as discarded concepts, the site suggests that if reception is positive enough, we may indeed see these costumes rise from the grave as downloadable content.

This adds to the growing collection of Street Fighter V concept art coming out of the CFN Portal, including classic characters and R. Mika’s wrestling rivals. Japanese-speakers can view the original listing on the CFN Portal website.

Stomp Some Heads with Beefy Smash Doods’ Footstool Tutorial for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

In their latest strategy video for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the Beefy Smash Doods go in-depth on footstools (using jump to bounce off your opponent’s head) and their various uses. They describe the difference between the regular footstool–which knocks the stomped character down–and the “phantom” footstool, that uses the opponent as a platform but doesn’t affect them otherwise. The video explains at length the many ways the footstool can be applied to your advantage, both on and off the stage, or even in combos.

ZeRo Reveals the Finger Injury Preventing Him from Playing Super Smash Bros.

TSM|ZeRo has posted a video to explain his absence from recent Super Smash Bros. for Wii U competition: a series of health concerns worsening over the last two months, topped off with finger surgery. ZeRo describes in detail the process in which a growth was removed from his middle finger, and the pain of his ongoing recovery–both in the physical sense, and the emotional pain of being kept from playing the game he loves.

ZeRo closes the video by apologizing to his supporters for not being on the competitive scene, and states that he hopes to be playing again for 2016’s Community Effort Orlando on June 24-26. Being kept off the controller himself hasn’t stopped him from offering advice to help players improve their own Smash game.

Electrify Your Street Fighter V Opponents as Laura with Momochi’s New Video Lecture

In #15 of his series of video lectures on the basics of Street Fighter V, Evil Geniuses’ Momochi addresses the perky Brazilian grappler Laura. He breaks down how to utilize her command grab, Bolt Charge, Thunder Clap, and V-skill, and how to mix them up to keep the pressure on to cover Laura’s weaker defence.

In his opinion, Laura is a fairly basic character and pretty easy to use; for those thinking of trying her out, the video provides a lot of tools to get started. EG|Momochi also lectured recently on Zangief’s basics, as well as Karin and Rashid.

Capcom CEO Admits Street Fighter V Needed “More Polish” Before Launch

Capcom’s Chairman and CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto has confirmed in a Financial Results Briefing for investors that Capcom is taking Street Fighter V’s rocky launch into consideration, and will endeavor to learn from the experience for future releases.

In his presentation, Tsujimoto states “… some aspects of ‘Street Fighter V’ needed more polish, such as the lack of content and server issues at launch.” He adds “… it’s better to give a little more time to development than before, and have made slight adjustments to our portfolio.”

Street Fighter V’s lean offline content and unstable offline play certainly raised vocal critcism even as the gameplay mechanics and new characters were welcomed by the community. With the game’s sales coming up shy of Capcom’s expectations, it seems those early complaints have been noted by the company.

Latest “Smash History” Video Details the Origins of Sonic’s Moveset

The Game Theorists have added a new video to their ongoing Smash History series that demonstrates how each of Sonic’s Super Smash Bros. moves have been modeled after animations from his many prior video game appearances–usually from similar attacks and situations.

While much of what we see in Brawl and Smash 4 is based on his moves from the mostly forgotten Sonic the Fighters arcade game, some can be traced back to the possibly even more obscure Game Boy Advance title Sonic Battle. The designers’ strong attention to detail shows clearly in how faithfully the Smash Bros. version of Sonic recreates visual elements from as far back as the original Sega Genesis/Mega Drive games. This video also discusses how Sonic almost made it into Melee’s roster, and the suspicious resemblance between Super Sonic and Dragon Ball Z’s Super Saiyans.

The Game Theorists have also recently featured Corrin and Bayonetta in their Smash History series. If Sonic is your fighter of choice in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, brush up on your techniques here and here.

Filipino Champ Talks About His Nomination for the Bud Light All-Stars and More in Interview with Daily Dot Esports

Daily Dot Esports caught up with Panda Global’s Ryan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez at DreamHack Austin to ask him how he felt about being nominated for Bud Light’s new foray into the fighting game community, the Bud Light All-Stars: a vote to name a representative for each eSport genre. F Champ speaks at length about how he’s the likeliest candidate, what it means for a brand as big as Bud Light to get involved with the FGC, and what traits a player needs to land a sponsorship.

Additionally, Filipino Champ discusses his thoughts on BE|Kane Blueriver being called “a new god of Marvel,” and his feeling that Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is “dying” on the tournament scene, while Street Fighter V rises. He also mentions Panda Global’s new additions, and his thoughts on how the Capcom Pro Tour is going this year–particularly EG|Justin Wong’s ongoing success, and RB|Snake Eyez’s troubles playing Zangief.

Fans Launch Petition to Show Interest in Marvel vs. Capcom 4

In the wake of statements from Disney regarding its future (or rather not) in the video game industry, speculation has been growing as to the possibility of another entry in the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise, considering Marvel licenses fall under Disney’s umbrella.

Taking a small step further than merely speculating, eager fans from the /r/MvC3 Reddit community have launched a Change.org petition to show Disney and Capcom that the fighting game community is indeed ready for a fresh installment in the renowned series.

As of this writing, the Marvel Vs. Capcom 4 petition has gathered over 3800 signatures, putting it well on its way to making its target of 5000. The petition can be viewed–and signed, if you’d like to add your support–here.

Do note that reaching the petition’s goal will not necessarily persuade any involved parties to begin even the earliest steps of production on the title. Of course, signing it certainly won’t hurt anything.
