Following in same theme as Sagat’s pre-Shoryuken costume, Street Fighter V‘s Fighting Chance mode is now tempting Balrog mains with the Mike-Like costume, a tribute to the original Street Fighter pugilist that served as a prototype/inspiration for one of Street Fighter II‘s Four Kings.

Mike fans that want to add this costume to Balrog’s wardrobe will need to buy Fortune Tickets in SFV’s lootbox-ish Fighting Chance minigame; the first try is free, but additional shots to get the costume (amidst the other items that the mode provides) will take some Fight Money off your hands.

This costume replaces the Cannon Spike outfit for Cammy in Fighting Chance, while Sagat’s Street Fighter costume is still available. Although the announcement lists the costume as “available in Fighting Chance until 9/24”, the Fighting Chance reading 10-pack for this outfit is listed as being available until October 14 in-game.

At least part of today’s maintenance is the release of the new batch of “Professional” premium costumes, this time offering the outfits Falke, Kolin, Menat, and R. Mika would slip into if they were spending the day providing service at a maid café:

Players that have picked up G and Sagat will want to keep an eye out for possible balancing changes for the new fighters as well — Capcom has already indicated their intention to adjust Sagat’s uppercut properties.

Deaths and injuries at a gaming event in Jacksonville raise the question of how to ensure the safety of future tournament attendees.

In the wake of Sunday’s tragic shooting at the GLHF Game Bar in Jacksonville, Florida — that claimed two lives and left nearly a dozen others with injuries after a competitor in a Madden 19 event opened fire during a tournament — FGC tournament organizers are pledging to increase security at upcoming events. Level Up Series promises additional security and metal detectors will be in place at the upcoming SoCal Regionals 2018 in September, while Canada Cup Gaming’s Lap Chi Duong also has indicated plans for increased security at October’s Canada Cup 2018 at EGLX in Toronto.

Our thoughts and prayers goes out to the gaming community in Jacksonville, Florida on this tragic day.

While Evo does not comment on security procedures (for obvious reasons), it's very clear that we need to be more proactive for 2019 and beyond. The amount of undercover law enforcement at Evo was unprecedented, and we will be installing metal detectors for ALL days next year.

The shooting has hit close to home for the fighting game community, leaving many players rattled, saddened, and concerned about safety at future tournaments — not to mention bringing to prominence the ongoing question of how to combat gun violence in the USA.

I hate that we tolerate efficient murder weapons. I hate that anyone could be a target. I hate that there'll be more security at tournaments instead of effective government action, as if the solution to a leaky roof was to cover the floor with buckets instead of patching the tile

Cat-loving Cammy dons an outfit better-known for its association with a white German Shepherd.

This week, the last piece of Rashid’s Air Man Crossover Costume is up for grabs (along with the Monster Hunter outfits for Ken, R. Mika, and Ibuki if you missed them on the first run), and Capcom has now revealed the next costume you’ll be able to earn in Extra Battle mode. Next week (starting August 30th) in Street Fighter V you’ll be able to start earning the pieces for a Crossover Costume for Cammy: Fiona Belli from Haunting Ground.

For those unfamiliar with the (slightly obscure) title, Haunting Ground is a survival-horror game released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2 (called Demento in Japan). The player must guide car-crash survivor Fiona and her canine companion Hewie through a mysterious castle, exploring and ultimately seeking escape.

As usual, players will need to earn four costume components through weekly Extra Battle challenges. Watch for the first one next weekend.
