Capcom promises improvements to Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, details to come

As to exactly what is being improved, we have to wait and see.

After a lot of anticipation, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is out in the wild — and the reception has been mixed. While many have praised the quality of the arcade ports (not exactly “arcade perfect”, but still good) and the overall offline experience, the game’s online experience proved to be very hit-and-miss. Connection quality has been all over the place, and there is an outright bug in the lobby mode that prevents players from actually starting matches.

Thankfully, it seems the developers aren’t going to abandon the Collection without some kind of fixes. Capcom has promised upcoming improvements, with details yet to come:

Exactly how extensive we can expect these improvements to be is a mystery until Capcom provides those details. The lobby mode glitch is a given, but can we look forward to any other improvements to the online experience? What about Akuma in Super Turbo’s Ranked mode? We’ll soon see.

Bandai Namco’s upcoming “Jump Force” will be a 3-versus-3 tag team arena fighter

Who’s on your Jump “dream team”?

Bandai Namco’s latest fighting project, just announced at E3, is Jump Force; while the reveal trailer was tantalizing, it didn’t tell us much about what exactly the game was. We now know via press release that Jump Force will be a tag-team based arena brawler! More details, according to Bandai Namco:

Featuring the world’s most popular and classic manga/anime franchises including DRAGON BALL Z®, ONE PIECE®, NARUTO®, and many others, players will be able to create their three-character manga/anime dream tag team and take them into battle in hyper-stylish arena brawls set against backdrops of famous landmarks around the world including New York City’s Times Square and the Matterhorn in the Alps. Utilizing Unreal Engine® 4, JUMP FORCE brings these titans of Japanese pop culture to life for the first time ever in stunning realistic detail.

“With JUMP FORCE, we are thrilled to bring to life Shueisha’s deep catalogue of beloved franchises that has produced some of the most popular pop culture characters to ever come from Japan,” said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “JUMP FORCE gives fans of manga and anime a dream opportunity to see their favorite heroes come to life in our world in a globetrotting adventure filled with explosive battles of epic proportions.”

Jump Force is in-development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. So, get ready to take three of your manga favorites — such as Naruto, Luffy, Goku, Freiza, Light Yagami and Ryuk, for starters — into battle sometime in 2019. Here’s that reveal trailer again to help get you hyped up:

We now have that date: the Ring of Power is promised to arrive alongside the update that brings us Cody on June 26.

Street Fighter V adds Triggered Necalli boss to Extra Battle, along with some classic BGM to accompany Ryu’s Crossover Costume

Necalli needs an intervention on this addiction to souls — he’s clearly out of control.

The first challenge for Ryu’s Crossover Costume — the valiant knight Arthur from the Ghosts n’ Goblins series — has arrived in Street Fighter V‘s Extra Battle mode, and he’s brought along a new monstrosity for us to slay as well. Triggered Necalli, a superpowered CPU boss version of the soul-devouring ancient, is available to challenge in Extra Battle until June 10th.

He’s a handful, as these Extra Battle bosses often are. Expect a hard fight if you want the exclusive title reward.

Once you take on Arthur-Ryu, you might hear some familiar tunes in the background: that is indeed the first stage BGM from Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, and you can unlock that as well in an additional Extra Battle challenge!

You’ve got some extra time on that one. As usual, it takes Fight Money to attempt any of the challenges in Extra Batttle: 2500 FM to unlock the pieces of the Crossover Costume, and 1000 FM to fight Triggered Necalli or unlock the classic BGM.

Dead or Alive 6 announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam in 2019

The next iteration of Dead or Alive is confirmed to be on the way.

IGN revealed this morning that the Dead or Alive franchise was far from dead after the drop of support for DOA5 — very much the latter, as the sequel has now been confirmed. Dead or Alive 6 is in-development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam, featuring a refreshed visual style that includes dynamic in-play facial expressions, sweat, and wounds. The developer is aiming for a 2019 release.

Destructible stages are returning as well. From IGN’s reveal:

While the visuals seem to be changing, Dead or Alive 6’s core gameplay stays familiar to what the series always has excelled at: over-the-top martial-arts action with interactive stages. However, DOA6 does try to welcome beginner players by introducing a new combo and special attack system: Fatal Rush and Break Gauge. These powerful attacks use simple commands to allow new players to experience the thrill of fighting games without too much practice. For seasoned players, the timing required to execute them perfectly should add an additional layer of strategy.

Kasumi, Hayate, Hayabusa, Helena, Jann Lee, and Zack are confirmed as returning characters. According to Director/Producer Yohei Shimbori, the final character roster will include other familiar fighters as well as some brand new characters.

The Japanese developer is now increasing its support for fighting games even more by announcing its official sponsorship of Evo 2018!

As part of this new sponsorship, Cygames plans to provide a booth at Evo 2018 to showcase Cygames Beast, as well as highlight their Shadowverse game — including a “be a card” photobooth for attendees.

“For Japanese gamers no event is held in higher esteem than Evo, so naturally we are ecstatic to be a part of the 2018 event,” said Cygames Executive Director Yuito Kimura. “It is a true honor to support not just Cygames Beast, but the entire fighting game community, and we look forward to a long and rich relationship.”
