Darkstalkers premium costumes arriving for Menat, Juri, and Urien in Street Fighter V next week

Darkness descends on Street Fighter V next week with three new Crossover Costumes.

Capcom revealed today that three more SFV fighters would be receiving the Crossover Costume treatment: this time, the world of the Night Warriors intersects with Street Fighter via Darkstalkers premium costumes for Menat, Juri, and Urien.

Urien dons the garb of Darkstalker-hunter Donavan, Juri is transformed into the lively succubus Lilith, and Menat dresses up like Anakaris’ partner Khaibit.

Your Fight Money won’t be taking another hit from these ones — they’re not going to be offered through Extra Battle mode challenges, but instead will be directly-purchasable DLC content. These outfits are scheduled to arrive next week — on April 3rd — and will cost the usual $3.99 USD each. Body Count Fighting presents BCF5 — new Title & Feature matches in Dragon Ball FighterZ, Street Fighter V, & Tekken 7 — on April 7th

The body count rises — the fight card is set for Body Count Fighting 5!

The next set of Title and Feature matches at Machinima Studios in Burbank, California has been announced: Body Count Fighting 5 will take place at 5:00 p.m. PT on April 7, 2018! With fights planned in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition and Tekken 7, BCF5 will also feature the first BCF Title match for Dragon Ball FighterZ!

Doors open at 4:00 p.m. on April 7th; tickets are available on the Body Count Fighting 5 Eventbrite page — for free! There will be free food, casual gaming stations, and a free vintage arcade for attendees. The event will be streamed live on Body Count Fighting’s YouTube and Twitch channels, starting at 5:00 p.m. It will also stream on SRK’s own SRKLive Twitch channel.

A new Street Fighter TV series is in the works from eOne and the creators of “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist”

New live-action Street Fighting is on the way to your screen.

Joey Ansah, Jacqueline Quella, and Mark Wooding — the team behind the live-action web series Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist — is now on board with eOne to produce a new live-action Street Fighter television series, this time based on the events of Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. Ansah wrote and directed their prior 12-episode live-action web series and Wooding and Quella produced it for Machinima; it proved to be a quite popular transition of the Street Fighter setting and characters to live-action — something the big screen movies haven’t pulled off yet.

Mark Gordon — eOne’s President and Chief Content Officer for film, television and digital — spoke to Deadline Hollywood about the project:

Street Fighter is a global tour de force franchise, having garnered immense worldwide commercial success and built a vast devoted fanbase that has only grown through its 30 year legacy. We are thrilled to be teaming up with Joey, Jacqueline and Mark, who are already so deeply connected to this brand, to bring this adored story to television audiences everywhere. A particular strength of Street Fighter is the wide range of ethnically diverse characters and powerful women featured in the game. It will allow us to build an inclusive and engaging TV universe.

Pokkén Tournament DX Battle Pack Wave 2 is now available, bringing Blastoise and Mew & Celebi assists into the game

Battle Pack Wave 2 became available for download in Pokkén Tournament DX last night, coinciding with the promised March 23rd release date (in Japan, that is — North America got it a little early as a result). This completes Pokkén’s first two-part DLC package on Nintendo Switch — bringing Blastoise into the fray, along with Mew and Celebi assist Pokémon, and a selection of customization items for your avatar and Nia. I honestly think Gravity Breakers is one of the most ambitious indie fighters I’ve seenin a while, and I’m really excited to watch it grow.

Why Tournament Battle mode is a good fit as a Nintendo Switch exclusive for the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

A look at the history behind this Super Street Fighter spin-off, and why only the Switch is getting it.

It was recently revealed that the Nintendo Switch version of the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is getting an exclusive addition: it will be tho only platform that gets a version of the somewhat rare Super Street Fighter II: The Tournament Battle.

In a recent article, Stephen Kleckner discusses the history behind The Tournament Battle: an ambitious four-cabinet variation of Super Street Fighter II, released at the height of the 2D fighting boom, that allowed players to jump right into an eight-player tournament — with the software itself handling all the bracketing work. The article also describes the challenges to acceptance that this game faced, such as the expense of quadruplicate hardware to arcade operators, and the awkwardness (and trolling potential) of cabinet-hopping between fights.

Ultimately, it adds up to why this odd SSF2 offshoot is best suited for the Switch, as the portability of the console lends itself well to the structure of The Tournament Battle. Read the whole article over on VentureBeat!

The next DLC character inbound to The King of Fighters XIV now has her own reveal trailer! The result of SNK’s character design contest, Najd is a college student by day, but a vigilante wielding mysterious powers by night — powers granted by the djinn’s abaya she wears. And it’s more than enough power to put Geese Howard in his place, as you can see below…

Najd joins Oswald, Heidern, and one yet-unrevealed fighter coming as DLC for The King of Fighters XIV in April 2018.

Catch more footage of Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection in action; Training mode is coming for Super Street Fighter II Turbo

Capcom showcases their upcoming Street Fighter compilation in this stream footage.

For those that couldn’t tune in live to yesterday’s Capcom-Unity preview stream for the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, you can still watch the whole thing on Twitch below for another look at the compilation’s games and features in action. And while Versus mode was confirmed for Super Street Fighter II Turbo at Final Round 2018, at about the 26-minute mark in the stream, we get confirmation that the title will be getting a training mode as well. Nidhogg II heading to Nintendo Switch in 2018

Get ready to pay tribute to the Great Wyrm on the go this year!

Fantasy Strike wasn’t the only indie fighter revealed to be heading to the Nintendo Switch platform today; MESSHOF has announced that their cartoony blood-drenched and gut-splattered fencing/worm-feeding simulator Nidhogg II will be be heading to Nintendo’s portable console.

David Sirlin’s indie fighting game Fantasy Strike heading to Nintendo Switch alongside PlayStation 4 and PC this summer

A new platform revealed for the upcoming fighter.

There hasn’t been much news for Sirlin Games’ in-development indie Fantasy Strike for a while — but today, it was announced that the title will be heading to the Nintendo Switch this summer, alongside releases for PlayStation 4 and PC.

According to David Sirlin:

Fantasy Strike is the perfect fighting game for Switch. The Switch is a take-anywhere console, so fighting games would be great on it if not for how notoriously difficult they are to control. Usually, playing a fighting game on a JoyCon would be tough, but Fantasy Strike is designed specifically for that. Detach the JoyCons, give one to a friend, and you can play a deep, strategic fighting game anywhere.

Fantasy Strike has been in Steam Early Access since September 2017; now we can expect the final version of the game to arrive on all three platforms soon. The exact release date for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and full PC version has not yet been revealed.
