Early looks at the upcoming Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection — due to arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime this May — from PlayStation Underground and Maximilian were promising in many ways, but raised concerns about potential issues with the gameplay speed, and a lack of non-arcade features. Thankfully, community hands-on experience with a more recent build brought to Final Round 2018 alleviated a lot of concern: not only were the gameplay speeds apparently more arcade-accurate, but many of the original arcade bugs were found to be intact, minus the game-crashing ones. Offline versus mode for Super Street Fighter II Turbo was also confirmed.

Capcom has, at last, confirmed the release date for the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection! This 12-title compendium of Street Fighter history will arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 29, 2018. Also, a bonus has been revealed for digital pre-orders on PlayStation, Xbox, or Steam: a pre-order will get you an copy of Ultra Street Fighter IV as well!

Capcom Pro Tour 2018 Premier Pass announced; New “Ring of Power” stage and costumes for Akuma & Sakura revealed

A new arena and new outfits for a new year of the Capcom Pro Tour.

Via the Japanese Street Fighter V website, Capcom has revealed the first images of the new stage and costumes that will comprise the 2018 Capcom Pro Tour Premier Pass. This year, Sakura and Akuma get their own classy outfits to show off:

Prior years brought us the Ring of Destiny and the Ring of Pride; now, get ready to step into the Shadaloo-influenced Ring of Power.

The Sakura and Akuma costumes are listed as being available individually at ¥600 (about $6.00 USD) apiece. ¥2000 ($19.00 USD) gets the complete Premier Pass, which will include both costumes, the Ring of Power stage, a new EX color for the whole roster to date, new titles and fighter profile themes, access to exclusive Missions, 5000 Fight Money — and of course, the upcoming CPT costume for Birdie, as designed by Capcom Cup 2017 champion MenaRD.

Release details for North America are still unconfirmed — but based on the present posting, we can expect this to become available in the West on April 3, 2018. More details on the exclusive Missions can be found on the Japanese SFV site.

Tekken 7 hit Final Round 2018 like a Death Fist! Fans were treated to fantastic high-level play as the top 8 battled to claim the championship at Final Round’s Tekken World Tour event. If you couldn’t attend — and missed the livestream — Bandai Namco has you covered with these replay videos of the action.

You’ll see Echo Fox’s JDCR and Saint facing off against Evo Japan champion ROX.Dragon|Knee and his teammate ROX|Chanel, as well as Lil Majin, Kkokkoma, LowHigh, and Anakin all doing their best to grab for the top spot. The first Premier event of this year’s Capcom Pro Tour — Final Round 2018 — has just wrapped up, and the Street Fighter V competition was as fierce as ever, if not more so. You can see for yourself in the replay videos below from the event’s exciting top 8 matches: newly-sponsored by Panda Global, Infiltration (the tournament champion) was on point with his dangerous (and frustrating) Menat, while Echo Fox|Tokido was a deadly menace to all that crossed his path — Tokido genuinely looked like he was enjoying it, too!

NuckleDu was in good form with his Guile, and you can also see Nemo’s oppressive Urien, Gachikun’s slippery Rashid, Verloren’s deadly Cammy, and DATA NEON’s chilling Kolin battling for the top spot. Sure, Blanka-chan starts off all cute and cuddly, but before you know it, there’s a crazy screaming ball of fur and claws flying straight at your face. The light version of his Rolling Attack is a tricky special move in terms of timing, and can be easily abused — but as long as you keep your cool and block that roll, VesperArcade has you covered. James Chen tests the gameplay speed of Super Street Fighter II Turbo in Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection at Final Round 2018

Some hands-on reassurance that Super Turbo won’t be racing out of control in the Anniversary Collection.

After expectant Street Fighter fans saw the preview footage of Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection from PlayStation Underground, some concern arose about the speed that Super Street Fighter II Turbo appeared to be running at in the demo build — despite being played at only speed setting #1, Super Turbo was looking a little too turbo.

James Chen is on site at Final Round 2018, where Capcom has presented a build for attendees to try for themselves. Based on his own hands-on experience, it seems that the speed Super Turbo runs at is not actually as skewed as it appeared to be in the PlayStation Experience demo, thankfully. Have a look for yourselves in the video below!

We can also see in Chen’s video that a “versus” mode outside of the regular arcade mode structure is available for Super Turbo, the apparent lack of which was once of Maximilian’s criticisms in his time with an early build.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is expected to hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC in May 2018.
