rooflemonger demonstrates Android 16’s own version of the “handcuff” glitch in Dragon Ball FighterZ

It looks like exposure to Android 16’s super moves can have an unintended side effect…

Seasoned players of Street Fighter II will probably remember the (potentially infuriating, at least for your opponent) “handcuff” glitch that Guile could perform to freeze up a helpless opposing character mid-match. While different in execution and effect, it seems that a glitch that shares at least some of the handcuff’s spirit is present in Dragon Ball FighterZ, too.

In the video below, rooflemonger explains and demonstrates Android 16’s own variation on the handcuff theme: when Android 16 uses his level 1 super, if the opposing character is at a specific range and tries to use a deflect, the result may be a strange, slow, and irresistible attraction towards Android 16 for a period of time. The opponent can still attack, but can’t move away from Android 16 until the effect wears off.

The glitch was reputedly first discovered by kamoihito.

Cygames Beast welcomes three new players — GamerBee, Fuudo, and Chris Tatarian — while Snake Eyez departs from the team

More Beasts gather for battle!

Japanese Shadowverse mobile game publisher Cygames has renewed it sponsorship support for Daigo Umehara’s Cygames Beast team, formed last march with PR Balrog and Snake Eyez joining Umehara on the roster. This year, the team will expand with the addition of three new Street Fighter V competitors, all very well-known on the Street Fighter circuit: Cygames Beast now welcomes GamerBee, Fuudo, and Chris Tatarian aboard!

Fuudo
Chris T

If you’ve been paying any attention to the Capcom Pro Tour over SFV’s lifespan, you’ll have seen GamerBee’s Necalli, Fuudo’s R. Mika, and Chris T’s Ken mixing it up with the competition. Fuudo has also become a regular fixture on Daigo the BeasTV, making his inclusion on the Cygames Beast roster a natural development. They join Daigo Umehara and PR Balrog to bring the team to a new total of five members — Snake Eyez, however, is departing from Cygames Beast.

Yuito Kimura, Game Producer and Executive Director at Cygames, offers these comments:

Every one of us here is looking forward to another year of nail-biting entertainment as part of our continued collaboration with Cygames Beast. At Cygames we strive to deliver on the dreams of our players, not just through social games – which we are well-known for in Japan – but across a diverse spectrum of content. By expanding our relationship with Cygames Beast we’re looking forward to reaching ever more gamers that share our passion as embraced by our motto: creating the best in entertainment.

GamerBee, Fuudo, and Chris T will jump right into competition under the Cygames Beast banner this weekend at Final Round 2018.

Maximilian shares his hands-on impressions of the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

Another look at this highly-anticipated classics compilation.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

Maximilian had a chance to spend some time with the current build of the upcoming Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, and now offers his thoughts on what the compilation is like so far. He discusses the accuracy to the arcade originals — as it seems this title is using the original ROMs, with very little to no modifications — but decries the lack of modern options for these titles, such as dedicated training and versus modes.

Like other observers, Maximilian also notes the play speed issue that seems to be present in Super Street Fighter II Turbo here; but he reminds us that this is an unfinished build, and some of his criticisms may be addressed in the final product. For even more footage, check out the preview video from PlayStation Underground — and watch out for more impressions to come from the playable build at Final Round 2018 this weekend.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection will be playable at Final Round 2018 this weekend

The community will soon get a chance to try this new collection for ourselves!

sf 30th games

First announced back in December 2017, Capcom is looking to mark 30 years of Street Fighter with the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, which will bring all of the Street Fighter titles seen above to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC sometime in May 2018 — and some will include new netplay features.

Naturally, how true these new ports are to the original arcade releases is what everyone in the FGC is wondering — and the community will get the chance to see for themselves this weekend, as Capcom plans to bring a playable version of the game to Final Round 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia.

We’ll soon know if these games are indeed “arcade perfect” or not! If you’re heading to Final Round, keep your eyes peeled for a shot to try for yourself; if not, you can definitely expect to see some hands-on impressions from attendees on social media this weekend.

A look into what this compilation will deliver for classic Street Fighter fanatics.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection

As we creep closer to the release window for Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, some new footage of the game compilation in action was long overdue! PlayStation Underground has now brought us exactly that: giving us our first good look at what the collection has to offer.

In their half-hour preview video, we see the overall menu layout and some in-game footage from Street Fighter, Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. The attention to historical detail and the overall presentation is quite impressive, including the classic “cabinet art” borders (which can be turned off). The speed at which the compilation switches between titles is also a nice surprise — the load times are near-nonexistent in this demonstration. It’s not easy to see exactly how true to arcade gameplay the titles are from a single video, but it looks promising; although the speed setting on Super Turbo looks… a bit off? Judge for yourselves by checking out the video below.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection is expected to release in May 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

See more of the prince’s fighting style and his alternate outfits in the official Tekken 7 DLC launch trailer for Noctis

“If I didn’t know better, I’d say he’s following me…”

Bandai Namco have provided us all a better look at what the DLC3 pack brings to Tekken 7: namely guest character Noctis Lucis Caelum, along with the new Hammerhead stage, and no less than five alternate costume sets for the prince (Casual Outfit, Royal Raiment, Choco-Mog Style, Fighting King’s Raiment, and the Kingly Raiment).

In the launch trailer below, you can also see more of Noctis’ overall gameplay style, and his Armiger-powered Rage Art!

Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy XV expected to warp-strike into Tekken 7 on March 20th

The next guest fighter for Tekken 7 has almost arrived!

noctis tekkken 7 screenshot

Busting out of the JRPG genre to cross blades with Yoshimitsu, Final Fantasy XV‘s Noctis Lucis Caelum — Tekken 7‘s next DLC guest character — is expected to arrive in-game very soon. Lacking a set release date for quite some time now, an industry source to Kotaku UK has now indicated that we can expect Noctis to arrive in Tekken 7 next week — on March 20, to be specific.

Bandai Namco has not yet widely advertised this release date at the time of this writing; this isn’t very surprising, as Noctis’ DLC predecessor Geese Howard had a very ambiguous arrival date right up until he was finally available. We can expect more details from tomorrow’s Tekken X Final Fantasy XV promotional event in Japan.
