The Overwatch Twitter page has a new post to announce that the buy to play game has now crossed over the thirty-five million player mark. “What a bunch of misfits and freaks we got here — we love it! Thanks for teaming up with us, heroes!” the post reads. Accompanying the quote is a great pic of Junkrat in his Halloween skin.
Overwatch – Halloween Terror to Lumber Back Into the Game on October 10th
The Overwatch Twitter has announced that the Halloween Terror event will be arriving in the game on October 10th. Junkrat in his ‘Junkenstein’ skin is featured prominently, though there also seem to be a couple of other new skins for players to earn through themed loot chests in the cooperative event.
Overwatch – Posting on Forums Can be ‘Scary’ & ‘Intimidating’ for Developers According to Kaplan
According to Jeff Kaplan, posting on the Overwatch community forum can be scary and intimidating for developers. He alludes to members of his team who have been “personally attacked and intimidated” by players fans. While the OW team appreciates the enthusiasm, it can be a frightening experience for devs when they are constantly concerned about ‘saying the wrong thing’. Game forums are not a “safe environment” for open communication due to harassment and out of context interpretation.
Overwatch – Zarya’s Hunt for Sombra Chronicled in New Comic
The Overwatch comics site has been updated with a new one called “Searching” that features everyone’s favorite Russian tank, Zarya. The comic begins where the Sombra cinematic video left off as Zarya goes on a hunt to find the hacker extraordinaire.
Overwatch – Philadelphia, Dallas & Houston Complete OW League Roster
The final three Overwatch League cities have been revealed as Philadelphia, Dallas and Houston. This brings the number of cities / teams taking part in the inaugural season of the Overwatch League to twelve. Preseason for is now scheduled to begin on Wednesday, December 6th, with proper season play starting on Wednesday, January 10th. The season will run through June 2018 with playoffs and finals in July.
Overwatch – Junkertown Map & Reworked Mercy & D.Va Now Live
Overwatch fans who’ve been clamoring for a new map should head into the game today now that the latest update has been deployed. Junkertown and the reworked Mercy and D.Va characters are also part of the update. Junkertown, you may remember, is set in Australia, home to both Roadhog and Junkrat.
Overwatch – Free Weekend Incoming From September 22-25
Blizzard is hosting a free play weekend for Overwatch beginning Friday, September 22nd and running through Monday, September 25th. The event is open to Overwatch across all platforms including PC, PlayStation 4 and XBox One. Any progress made through the weekend will be retained if you choose to purchase the game.
Overwatch – Blizzard Actively Working to Stem the Tide of Toxicity
“If you’re a bad person doing bad things in Overwatch, we don’t want you in Overwatch” stated Jeff Kaplan in the latest Developer Update. The entire focus of this most recent developer video is the rising tide of toxicity in the game. Kaplan informs the community that he and his team are aware of the “rising tide of toxicity” and are actively working to tune the system to reduce bad behavior.
Overwatch – Junkertown Behind the Scenes & 2 More League Cities Added
Overwatch fans got a pair of nifty updates overnight. First, a new behind-the-scenes video was released about the upcoming Junkertown map. Junkertown takes place Down Under and begins on Roadhog’s farm, wending its way to the Scrapyard. According to devs, Overwatch lore about Omnics and the Australian government as you explore the map. Junkertown is expected to be released on September 19th.
