The Overwatch PC-only Public Test Realm has been updated with the next patch preparing to be released into the game. Players will be able to test the balance changes to a trio of Overwatch characters: Ana, Widowmaker and Junkrat. In addition, UI updates and a variety of general changes are also included in the patch.

Jeff Kaplan has taken to the Overwatch forums to answer several questions posted by the community members. The questions center on the creation of the new maps and the team behind the game.

XBox One and PlayStation 4 players will be able to check out Overwatch for free beginning September 9th and running through September 12th. All heroes and maps will be available as well as most game modes. Players can level up, earn Loot Boxes and grab hold of some customizations. All progress will be saved if a player decides to purchase Overwatch.

ELeague and FaceIt have revealed the names of the thirty-two teams that will be facing off against one another in the Overwatch European and North American playoffs. The tournament events will begin on August 24th at 8:30 am Pacific / 11:30 am Eastern and will wrap up on August 28th. Eight teams will travel to the North American and European Finals in Atlanta.

While not officially in the Overwatch Public Test Realm patch notes, it appears the new Eichenwalde map is now available. The large PTR update brings a number of interesting balance changes, a test version of Competitive Season 2 and the new emotes to replace some phrases in chat that have caused some controversy.

The Overwatch community will soon be instrumental in the selection of national representatives to represent their nations at Blizzcon 2016 and the Overwatch World Cup. Blizzard will nominate several players who have “distinguished themselves in the community” including pro players, community personalities and local players.

Overwatch players will have a lot to look forward to from now through August 22nd with the arrival of the Summer Games Event. Players can score new Olympic-themed skins, sprays, emotes, voice lines and much more. In addition, a new game mode, LucioBall, on a special soccer-themed map gives participants a whole new way of playing.
