The Overwatch Grand Finals are bringing eSports to the masses when they will be broadcast on North America’s TBS, one of the largest cable networks. Turner Broadcasting has partnered with eLeague to host the $300,000 tournament. Regional playoff rounds will take place in August with the Grand Finals to be held in September.

Blizzard surprised Overwatch fans with two things this week: another massive ban wave for cheaters and the deployment of Summer Games 2016, an update including Overwatch’s first seasonal event. Both were welcome surprises, though the Summer Games event has stirred up some controversy in the Overwatch community.

eLeague and FaceIt are bringing the world the largest prize pool in an Overwatch competitive tournament. European and North American Regional Finals will be streamed via Twitch.tv beginning July 23rd with the Grand Finals televised on Turner Broadcasting Station (TBS). Players will be competing for $300,000 in prizes during the competition.

The latest in a series of downloadable Overwatch comics has been released. Called “Old Soldiers”, it brings three former allies and friends together, Reaper, Ana and Soldier 76. The trio meet up under deadly circumstances with some interesting backstory attached to their dialog.

The first new character to be added to Overwatch since the game’s launch in May has been released. Ana Amari is considered a healer and support character that can boost player damage. In addition, McCree has become available as a new hero in the “Custom Game” option.

Blizzard’s latest Overwatch patch brings with it the first new post-launch character release in Ana, a new support character with some interesting twists. The patch also makes some significant changes to a number of characters on the roster, which may really shake things up in the meta over the coming weeks.

President of the Universal Society of Hinduism Rajan Zed has sent a letter to Blizzard Entertainment regarding the Overwatch character Symmetra. The letter specifically asks for removal of the Devi skin, calling it ‘inappropriate’, as it trivializes the goddess herself.

The Overwatch site has the next in a series of comics to give some background information about the heroes in the game. In this edition, the newest hero, Ana Amari, takes aim. You can read the comic online on the Overwatch site or download a free copy to your desktop.

Reddit users are taking apart the latest Overwatch PTR build and have noticed several significant changes to the size of several characters’ hitboxes. Most notably, it appears that Hanzo’s hitbox has been reduced significantly, as have Zenyatta and Genji. In addition, players are speculating on a fairly significant change to Lucio’s ultimate charge rate, though this may be more related to buffs to other healers including Zenyatta and Mercy.

Ana Amani, as had long been rumored, is the next hero coming to Overwatch. She was revealed in a video that shows off her Support Sniper abilities, including a wicked one that puts players to sleep.
