A longstanding figure in the Guilty Gear series, Millia Rage is popular for her unconventional weapon and deadly rushdown. Millia shapes her hair to craft her attacks in Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, and she has been one of the stronger characters in the Xrd games. It’s not easy to effectively use Millia, but if you’ve been curious about trying her out, this new video from Apolo Volturi will get you started.
As in his previous videos, Apolo begins by going over Millia’s normal attacks, many of which work as very good anti-airs. Millia is great at both jumping in on her opponent as well as countering air approaches. That 6K overhead avoids lows and is the doom of many cornered players. The footage shows a few situations where it’s good to anti-air. Of course, Millia’s real strength lies in converting hits into knockdowns which allow her to set up her powerful okizeme game. The discs let her get creative with an overhead/low mix-up, go into cross-ups, or throw the opponent for another combo.
Millia is not without obvious weaknesses, though. She’s one of the most fragile characters in the game in terms of health, and she doesn’t have any real defensive options other than what is commonly available through the system mechanics.
