E3 2018 has brought great news for Nintendo Switch owners. For those who like their fighting on the go, another major fighting game is joining the platform. A brief announcement during Nintendo’s E3 presentation revealed that Dragon Ball FighterZ is indeed coming to their newest console.

GameSpot captured a match from an undocked Switch. The gameplay looks smooth, and there doesn’t appear to be much of a difference from other platforms.

For comparison, GameXplain also captured a live set from the E3 2018 floor, but this one is in docked mode. It seems there are no performance hiccups whatsoever:

Other than the Nintendo Switch Dragon Ball FighterZ announcement trailer, we don’t have much information as to whether this version will differ in content or modes. Stay tuned to Shoryuken‘s coverage to learn more, including the release date as it’s announced.

As E3 2018 continues, we’re getting a closer look at the recently-announced Dead or Alive 6. Faithful fans of the series should get ready for a slight directional change in the game — which now emphasizes more serious, realistic graphics, but also changes things up with a new resource bar.

Interviewed on the show stage, game director Yohei Shimbori talks about how they overhauled the graphics to show off impactful blows, sweat, and blood. Shimbori was also asked the company’s approach to balancing the game. On one hand, he wants to appeal to more casual players (which would probably explain the new Break Attack), but the core mechanics of the game remain intact. Shimbori is eager to hear feedback from fans, and is particularly looking forward to hearing fan reactions at Evo 2018. There’s also plenty of gameplay footage to peek at during the talk.

Toward the end of the interview, Tom (the second guest) made a nice, direct nod to the FGC. He gave a shout-out to competitive Dead or Alive players, bringing up the time when Team Ninja announced the end of support for Dead or Alive 5 at NEC 18. He hopes that now “all of this is explained” and that 2019 will be a “very, very exciting year.”

As Shoryuken already reported, Dead or Alive 6 will be playable at Evo 2018.

On the latest episode of WWE Now, host Cathy Kelley breaks down the road to today’s Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition E3 Team Battle showdown between The New Day’s Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods, and New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Elite faction — consisting of the new IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega and the new IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, Matt and Nick Jackson, The Young Bucks (who all scored gold at last Saturday’s Dominion event in Osaka-Jo Hall).

Following their previous encounters at Community Effort Orlando, as well as some trash-talking on Twitter, Capcom got the two wrestlers to agree to a face-off in the game’s new 3V3 Team Battle Mode, with The Bucks and New Day quickly stepping up to battle alongside their respective Captains.

After weeks of back-and-forth on social media, the dream match (even if it’s outside of the squared circle), goes down later today, Thursday, June 14th, at 1:00 PM PT (3:00 PM CT, 4:00 PM ET) at twitch.tv/capcomfighters at the Capcom Booth in Los Angeles, California. Attendees can also get their hands on Season 3’s newest character, Cody Travers, who is playable at the event.

Personally, I think it’s fantastic to see WWE promoting this internally, especially when three of the men involved are top stars in a rival promotion — and this just goes to show, once again, how mainstream the fighting game community is starting to become in popular culture. Here’s something for those “PC Master Race” folks. As you probably have heard, SoulCalibur VI will be the first one to appear on PC. Check out this exclusive footage from NVIDIA GeForce to see how gorgeous the game runs in smooth 4K.

The clip showcases the latest build of the game, with all the previously announced characters. Siegfried and Taki are up first, and we get a great look at their Critical Edge attacks in action. Geralt faces Maxi in another new stage. Up next, Kilik fights Grøh, and Sophitia tackles Ivy. The footage is rounded out by Nightmare vs. Zasalamel and Xianghua vs. Yoshimitsu. Sadly, it feels a bit like these are player vs. CPU matches, so don’t expect high-level gameplay — instead, ogle the high-fidelity graphics.

Don’t forget to check out some more Yoshimitsu gameplay as well as the newly revealed SoulCalibur VI story trailer featuring one of the key single-player modes of the game.

While we’ve known that indie crossover fighter Blade Strangers was launching sometime this Summer, we have yet to receive a specific release date. That is, until now: as a new trailer from the game’s Japanese publisher Pikii has revealed when it’s launching — in that region.

As the new trailer below mentions, Blade Strangers will arrive on PlayStation 4 and Switch in Japan on August 30, 2018.

As for when the game releases in the West (on those same consoles, and PC), no exact release date has yet been revealed by Nicalis.

Looking for a way to expand upon the Street Fighter V coaching that began with his The Fighter’s Dojo series, Frabisaur has now launched Walking the Path, a new video series in which he will provide live commentary over his own online matches. The goal: to provide moment-to-moment insight into the situational decision-making that takes place in every SFV battle.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now a reality, and what better way to welcome it than with the Invitational tournament at E3. Even the game’s creator Masahiro Sakurai made an appearance, commenting how worried he was that the game might freeze during gameplay. However, the event had plenty of hype and excellent matches in the brand new game.

Starting at about the 1-hour & 45-minute mark in the footage embedded below, Sakurai greets the crowd. The matches included a variety of settings, including fights with items, some with teams, and some without. The event starts out with some two-on-two action. At the 3-hour & 14-minute mark, special celebrity guests show up. Smash player Nairo played a 3-versus-1 match against celebrities: WWE Superstar Ember Moon, NFL player Mike Daniels, and actress Olivia Holt.

Shortly after that is perhaps the most hype part of the event, the Grand Finals between TSM|ZeRo and Echo Fox|MKLeo. MkLeo manages to reset the bracket, playing Bayonetta at first, then sticking to Sonic. ZeRo goes between Mario and Sheik, but ultimately sticks with Sheik. It looked like he was about to lose, but in the clutch last match with everything at stake, he stays calm and earns to win — becoming champion of both of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Invitationals to date.

It’s important to listen to Sakurai at the end as well, who said that the game is under “constant balancing.” Expect lots to change, but Nintendo already gave a great showing of the next Smash game.
