Chin usually grabs all the attention in the “old small guy” department in King of Fighters XIV competitive play. There’s someone who isn’t happy with that, and that’s Tung Fu Rue. The Marvel vs. Capcom games have always been a great source of stories and hype at Evo, and both Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 are no exception. To celebrate the six years of hype that the latest entry in the series has brought us and to drum up some support for having UMvC3 in for another year, Flying High has compiled a video showcasing some of their most hype moments at Evo.

Trying to enumerate each and every hype moment that’s in this video would take too much work – there’s just too many moments and too much hype. That said, long time Evo viewers should recognize moments such as Viscant taking it over PR Balrog in 2010, Justin Wong’s amazing comeback against Flocker in 2013, Justin winning at Evo in 2014, and of course, ChrisG finally winning after years of trying last year.

Many people who pick up a game like BlazBlue can be daunted by the combo system. When you are coming from a game with a more shallow combo system–or even if you’ve never touched a fighting game in your life–it can be very difficult to get competitive when you have to learn how to hit confirm into damaging combos, resets, and setups on a dime.

Fortunately for everyone who hasn’t played this series from the very beginning, here is a beginner’s combo tutorial for BlazBlue: Central Fiction that will help you catch up in no time. It starts you off with four basic combos that every beginner should know, and then branches off from there.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is a fighting game that suffered very unfortunate circumstances in North America. Despite the game coming to the US back in 2010 and being lauded for its gameplay, you’d be forgiven if you said the earlier Top 8 at Frosty Faustings was the first time you’d ever seen it being played. The game’s Wii-exclusive release and unfamiliar characters really dug this game into a hole that it seemed to be unable to climb out of.

That being said, YouTuber jmcrofts has made a primer for those unfamiliar with the game, designed to prep you on the basic mechanics and gameplay. One of the biggest names in competitive Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is BROKENTIER’s Armando “Angelic” Mejia. Angelic has become well-known for being one of the strongest UMvC3 players, as well as being a tournament organizer who’s done a lot to push the game.

In the latest episode of Conversations and Fireballs from Yahoo! Esports, Michael Martin talks to Angelic regarding the Evo 2017 Player’s Choice, and his efforts to help raise money for the game at Evo through his own event, Undefeated 2017. Additionally, he does also address Martin’s own concerns about the vote actually dividing the community.

They also talk about the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, whether it’ll cause players to drop UMvC3, as well as its chances to become even bigger than Street Fighter V.

Finally, aside from him winning the tournament, Angelic talks about what the best send-off for UMvC3 will be if it does get into Evo 2017.

Undefeated 2017 takes place on February 4 to 5 in Phoenix, Arizona.
