“The King of Fighters World” will launch first in China, Summer 2017.
There’s a new King of Fighters game on the horizon–however, it’s not another fighting title. SNK has announced plans to launch a new massively multiplayer online role-playing game, entitled The King of Fighters World. It will apparently be free-to-play (with additional paid content), and involve exploring the KOF game world, battling and puzzle-solving through a “profound” storyline.
It will be available for both Android and iOS devices, launching first in China, with the intention of expanding worldwide later. It might not be what every SNK fan burns to fight for, but it could be interesting for those that want to take some aspect of KOF on the go. Check out the teaser trailer below.
What we have here is something completely different: this person saw to creating voice mods for Under Night In-Birth characters using Team Fortress 2 voices. The below sees Hyde parroting TF2’s Scout.
He also gives the same treatment to Waldstein, giving him audio files from TF2’s Heavy, which doesn’t seem quite as far along as the previous mod, but goes equally well with the character:
After beginning his new series by looking at the changes made to Ryu, VesperArcade continues his character-by-character exploration of the alterations made to the original 22 cast members of Street Fighter V, by turning his attention to one of his personal favorite DLC characters (and one of mine!) the Korean Spider of S.I.N., Juri Han!
Following her release in July, she was not well-received by the community, due to the fact she seemed lacking in tools compared to the majority of the roster. Along with her significant gameplay overhaul, many considered her one of the weakest characters in the game. Vesper even put her at the very bottom of his personal Season One tier list, at C-.
However, Capcom seems to have heard the outcries from her fans, and rewarded the “Purple Smoke Of Deception” with a myriad of buffs, in an attempt to raise her stock in the title’s sophomoric Season. Her Tensenrin DP has been remapped to punches instead of kicks, preventing input overlap with her Fuharenkyakus. She has more Ryodansatsu combos, and complete projectile invincibility on the EX version, improving her damage output. Her V-Skill’s strongly improved, allowing her to reach Level 2 of Kasastsushu quicker. Vesper gave initial thoughts on the changes:
Overall, I think it’s pretty easy to say that she’s been buffed, for sure. Her combo potential is way higher now; they really buffed her V-Skill, her throws, but I think what was holding Juri back a lot in Season One was basically her play style. She’s a character that can’t do her full combos until she gets these stocks, so you have to leave yourself open, and you might lose neutral pressure or push yourself into the corner. Since they didn’t really change that, I think that stops her from being “greatly buffed.” Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that she could’ve got buffed harder, but I just don’t think that she’s on insane levels.
You can see the full video where he goes over the patch notes in detail below.
As with Ryu, Vesper also posted a second video of him taking Juri into the lab to provide a visual demonstration of all her notable buffs and new combo routes.
Vesper will continue making these videos for the 20 remaining Season One cast members, so stay tuned to his Channel!
Recently, we posted up a beginner’s tutorial for Hakumen in BlazBlue Central Fiction. While it’s great to have your basics down, you need more meat to supplement your abilities in the game.
In this second video of the same series, Hakumen is explored in more detail. This video will go over where Hakumen can counter and punish within the system of the game, and even gives a lot of options for how to fully punish your foes.
HyperX’s Daigo Umehara is the perennial warrior. Much like his patented Ryu, he is always on the hunt for strong opponents to test his mettle against, and gives each and every one a run for their money.
Osayu is one such competitor, and gives Daigo a serious battle. His Cammy is very solid, with lots of strong techniques and good mixups with the tools in his arsenal. They recently faced off in a couple of ranked sets online, and the results are matches that should leave players of both characters scribbling notes in their notepads.
Echo Fox’s Mew2King is highly regarded as one of the best Smash players of all time. Put the man into Losers Bracket, however, and it becomes increasingly difficult to bet on him. His inconsistency after dropping a set is duly noted, and he’s rarely able to win after being knocked into the losers side.
At UGC 2016, we saw a different M2K, and Daniel Lee of Yahoo! Esports goes over what was different between Mew2King’s usual Losers Bracket performance, and the one we saw at UGC–which ultimately saw him take 2nd place behind Armada after resetting the bracket. He goes over the way Mew2King was making decisions and using proper spacing and mixups to lead to his impressive run through the bracket, even besting his perennial rival Hungrybox en route to Grand Finals.
As BlazBlue: Central Fiction properly acclimated in the United States very recently, there’s still plenty of time to decide on another main or to consider a sub character. Since the cast is so large, it also pays off to learn another character just to get acquainted with their options.
Valkenhayn R. Hellsing is a character that intimidates most people, whether it comes to piloting the Hero or fighting him. He’s considered one of the stronger characters, considering the BlazBlue tier list by SKD. His wolf form allows quick traversal on the screen and to attack in an unpredictable manner, making it very difficult to react and block correctly. A good way to get started on controlling the character is by getting into his combos. BlackJaguarXD compiled a useful combo tutorial video which tells exactly how to perform a wide breadth of attack strings involving both forms.
Here’s some more advanced Valkenhayn combos; ArmorKiba is the person who did the video above.
Panda Global’s Filipino Champ is the perennial Dhalsim main. He has yet to be pushed off this pick, and he is taking this horse far. As one of only two Dhalsim players in Capcom Cup, he still always manages to impress with the character.
In SFV Season 2, not much has changed–or has it? Has FChamp adjusted to the changes to Dhalsim, and will it be enough to make him an even bigger threat in 2017?
With Season 2’s release, most players payed close attention to the buffs and nerfs their main character received; but with 92 pages of notes, it’s quite time-consuming to go through every single character. So, I’ll be making some short videos demonstrating some of the important changes to each character, to allow players to more rapidly brush up on their new mains and opponents.
This is the final series of videos, with the final batch of characters not already addressed in myfirstfourroundups: Ibuki, Balrog, Juri, and Urien. All four of these characters were DLC characters, and they were also the most recently-added characters, so they had the least amount of time to develop. Most of them saw very little play in both tournaments and online, so balancing them against the rest of the cast seems daunting. This is not a comprehensive list of all changes, simply the ones I deemed most significant to gameplay. I might have overseen the ramifications of certain minor changes, however, so if you feel I left out something important, feel free to leave feedback on the video for me and other viewers.
I’ve now covered every single season 1 character, so I’m done with this series until the next balance patch. Expect character tutorial videos and the next Rising Up video in the weeks to come, and subscribe to the Shoryuken YouTube channel.
With the excitement of the Nintendo Switch reveals yesterday, the FGC is actually fixing its eyes on a new Nintendo system for the first time in ages. Most notably eyeballing the system is the Smash community, who can always expect something from Nintendo regarding the cherished series.
There are rumblings of a port for Super Smash Bros. Melee for the console. Whether it is a Virtual Console release or a physical release remains to be seen. However, Tafokints talked about the implications of a port on Melee Science, talking about how a port, if done properly, could not only revitalize the scene, but make it easier for Melee to be accommodated at events by making the game not dependent on CRT TVs.
