Official ARMS tweets reveal different character color schemes, video preview of new Chakram weapon

Recent tweets from the official Twitter for the zany action brawler ARMS reveal alternative color schemes for characters, and a quick peek at a new weapon coming to the game. The tweets contain an image of the character Ninjara sporting pink instead of his original green garb, and a short clip of a weapon, apparently called the Chakram, that replaces the standard spring-loaded boxing glove with a chargeable boomerang-like projectile.

The description of the Chakram describes it as an “evolved ninja weapon,” which could imply it’s exclusivity to Ninjara, but not enough detail was disclosed to say for certain. The discreet nature of these updates could be due to the looming June 16th release date of ARMS, or it could be the start of a series of minute reveals that include similar details to the title’s other five characters.

Conversations and Fireballs (and smiles): PR Balrog talks positivity, ELEAGUE, maining Balrog and more

CYG BST|PR Balrog spoke to Yahoo Esports at length about ELEAGUE, character balance, and keeping a positive attitude in the FGC, all while, of course, sporadically breaking into fits of laughter.

The conversation remains on a high note but takes an interesting turn when PR notes how optics play a big role in the way the fighting game community perceive certain characters as top tier. For instance, a top player dominating in a tournament may cause spectators to believe that the character they are using has particular advantages and cause a shift in who players main and regard as high ranking.

BigBoysToys HK reveal prototype for Akuma figure, complete with glowing red eyes

BigBoysToys HK recently shared this image on their Facebook page, revealing that the next toy in their T.N.C (The New Challenger) series will be none other than the raging demon Akuma. While this particular detail could have been a  touch added in the editing process, the admin of the toy company’s Facebook page confirmed in the comments that the figure will, in fact, have glowing red eyes.

T.N

Looking at the picture, we can see that the prototype is assigned the number 00. Since every other member in the T.N.C series have been numbered 01-07, it can be inferred that there is something different about this upcoming Challenger. Also, with almost every other  figure in the line featuring some sort of projectile being hurled as part of it’s design, this render of the Akuma figure stands out in that respect as well.

Stay tuned to BigBoysToys’ news feed for more info on their latest toy’s release.

Keep your opponents under fire with these back throw corner setups for Ken in Street Fighter V

YouTuber Cochroy found a great way to take advantage of Ken’s back throw when it lands you and your opponent in a corner situation. If the setups demonstrated in his video are executed successfully, the spacing you’re left with following the knockdown can lead to some series damage.

The clip covers options for crush counter, on-hit and blocked first attacks. The setups shown all start with standing roundhouse–but after watching, you will get the gist of how to create various post-back throw corner setups of your own.

RUBEKS-inspired TOD combos to get you playing Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 like a true Skrull warrior

In the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 community, the name RUBEKS is synonymous with high-level Super Skrull play. In an attempt to shed some light on what it takes to be a high ranking Skrull warrior, keo c recreates some of RUBEKS’ X-Factor “touch of death” combos in the video below.

Different variations for how the combos start are noted on screen, but it’ll be up to you to determine the specific inputs required for the exact outcome demonstrated. Also note that the use of a Spencer assist is employed, and that has an effect on some of the combos as well. Still, it’s easier to study the essence of RUBEKS in this isolated format, rather than trying catch glimpses of advanced tactics mid-match. This video alone will not make you a godlike Skrull main of course–but it’s a step in the right direction to start playing like one of the best.

For Honor: River Fort returning, improved Steel system, new Elite outfits in developer response to boycott threats

Ubisoft has responded to threats of a For Honor boycott by reversing some unfavorable changes to the game’s content, as well as improving the in-game currency system. They are reinstating the popular River Fort, one of the Vikings maps (the other being High Fort) that was removed after issues with online match stability, and they are increasing the value of Steel income across all platforms. In addition to these changes, they announced new Elite outfits for every class in the Viking, Knight and Samurai ranks–a total of 12 costumes divided amongst the three.

Issues with earnings and discarded maps are only two of many complaints, it seems. Poor multiplayer connectivity, balance issues with Heroes, and glitches in the combat system are also high on the list of gripes. To their merit, Ubisoft has responded to the negative feedback rather expediently–and their decision to focus on improving the currency system is hardly random: after a story about a concerned player’s conclusion that it would take either two years or $732 to unlock all of For Honor’s in-game content began circulating, it eventually caught the attention of the game’s director, and these latest developments in the For Honor player/developer relationship show that cries are not falling on deaf ears.

While these updates may be enough to forego any boycotts, there is still work ahead before all of the issues are addressed. Hopefully this show of good faith from Ubisoft will keep players connected with hopes of more progress.
