Registration is now open for Canada Cup 2017 in Toronto, Ontario–a Capcom Pro Tour Premier event

Canada’s biggest fighting game tournament is returning to Toronto on October 27-29, 2017!

Canada Cup is returning to rock Toronto in 2017! The Capcom Pro Tour 2017 Premier event will take place October 27-29 at the Toronto International Airport Hilton. Here are the games that will be featured this year:

  • Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Catch all the action from Body Count Fighting’s first Street Fighter V/Injustice 2 matches

Missed the fights live? Check them out now on Body Count Fighting’s YouTube channel!

If you missed the live stream of the first Body Count Fighting title/feature matches for Street Fighter V and Injustice 2, you can now watch them on BCF’s YouTube channel instead. The title matches featured Alex Valle vs. Commander Jesse for Street Fighter V, and Slayer vs. Michaelangelo in Injustice 2; the feature matches includes fights between Awesomo and Guamo, LowTierGod and Tony the PA, and Kitana Prime vs. Han Rashid!

Registration is presently open for Canada Cup Vancouver 2017, over on smash.gg! This event is bound for the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, British Columbia on July 1-2. Canada Cup Vancouver 2017 will feature tournaments for:

VesperArcade breaks down what we know about Menat, from Ed’s Street Fighter V character story mode

Is this Fortune Teller an upcoming DLC fighter?

In his latest video, VesperArcade takes a look at “Menat”–the new Street Fighter V character revealed in Ed’s character story mode. As discussed previously, the fortune teller bears a striking resemblance to the second-last silhouette in the Season 2 teaser image–leading us to wonder if she’s one of the playable “all-new” fighters promised for later this year.

In the video, VesperArcade compares the convincing silhouette match-up, and how the outline in question was also widely considered to be the doll Satsuki. More interesting, however, is how Menat’s arrival was predicted by an old leaked character list (that made the rounds before Ed was even revealed) that describes Menat, an Egyptian girl that is Rose’s apprentice. “Fate is a fixed line…” after all…

Now, even Menat’s name is not officially confirmed, the story mode only dubs her as “Fortune Teller.” However, Rose’s CFN Portal profile does indicate that she took on an apprentice. The combined evidence is pretty compelling that we’re far from done with this character. VesperArcade also speculates on how a fighter like Menat might play in Street Fighter V, taking her design and association with Rose into account.

Groove to all the new character themes in Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers

Xuses compiles all the revamped character themes into one video for your listening enjoyment.

We learned a while back that Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, though reusing the HD visual assets from Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, would not be using the prior game’s OverClocked ReMix music selections. Instead, it has a selection of all-new takes on the classic Street Fighter II character themes. Xuses has compiled them all into the video below to check out–including new themes for Violent Ken and Evil Ryu, of course.

Does Ed’s story mode tease upcoming DLC fighters for Street Fighter V? Who is the “Fortune Teller”?

We may have some significant clues as to who will join Street Fighter V in the future.

As we get closer to the official launch of the new Street Fighter V patch and content tonight, naturally we’re getting some previews of what’s incoming to our game as players dig it out of the patch a bit early. We’ve already heard some new stage themes. However, dataminer X-Kira has posted Ed’s character story mode to YouTube–and the images reveal some interesting new faces. Spoilers below (of course)!

Ed encounters a number of new characters in his story mode, most notably a mysterious Fortune Teller with a great interest in him–somewhat reminiscent of Rose. What’s notable about this character at this point is how much she resembles one of the remaining silhouettes in the Season 2 lineup:

Mysteries upon mysteries–who are all of these strange characters? Is a playable psycho-powered gorilla in Street Fighter V’s future?!
