Blow Your Opponents Away with Rashid’s Meaty Setups in Street Fighter V

Ride the Turbulent Wind to victory!

Few characters in Street Fighter V are as fun to play–and as hard to keep to keep your eye on–as Rashid of the Turbulent Wind. For those just starting to learn the Wind’s ways, or more experienced rashid players looking for some more tech, check out NurseLee’s latest video below. It contains a few meaty setups that follow-up Rashid’s light Spinning Mixer attack, with variations based on your opponent’s recovery options.

Of course, these are “Season One” setups–SFV’s incoming patch may change their effectiveness.

The SRK Rollback: Best of December 9 to 15, 2016

Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news and our favorite SRK articles from December 9 to December 15, 2016!

Zavian “mushin_Z” Sildra, Editor-in-Chief:

Frame 1:

Kuma and Panda are Coming to Tekken 7: Fated Retribution

Oddly enough, this is the Tekken 7 character announcement I wanted most–well, short of Gon. This sort of silliness is what I love about this series! Beating your opponent down with a huge salmon will make the wait worthwhile.

Frame 2:

Will the Saga Curse Be Broken at 2GGT: ZeRo Saga?

This is a great breakdown of who’s who going into this big Super Smash Bros. for Wii U event–required reading if you’re going to watching the ZeRo Saga this weekend. Will TSM|ZeRo reign supreme and break the Curse?

I love UDON Entertainment’s Street Fighter Unlimited, and this Annual is a great wrap-up to a year that was full of great Street Fighter comics. It’s good to see Dan is still in fine form, too.

njpw-x-tekken-7New Japan Pro Wrestling Comes to Tekken 7 with Special Kazuchika Okada Outfit for King

This is definitely a cross-over I can get behind. With King getting the Rainmaker as one of his new moves, it makes sense for him to get a whole Rainmaker outfit. Now, let’s hope for some Bullet Club costumes as well.

Frame 2:
sfv_white_house_crop_bannerJustin Wong vs. Snake Eyez: Street Fighter V Matches from Twitch’s White House Game-a-Thon

Street Fighter in the corridors of power, who would have thought it? Well, while the President didn’t come down to throw some Sonic Booms, seeing Mike, Ryan, Darryl and Justin represent the FGC so professionally was a big moment.

Frame 3:
jojoSuper Street Fighter Carnival 2016 Enters Its Last Week with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Virtua Fighter 3: Team Battle Tournaments

I’m going to miss these events from Mikado, seeing some arcade classics still being played by some dedicated players. What a way to finish SSFC 2016 with one of the most broken fighters of all time: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Keegan “Interrobang!?” Spindler, Features Editor:

Frame 1:
wangera-ssb64Wangera Sleeps on the Competition in This Super Smash Bros. 64 Compilation

There’s something strangely compelling about Super Smash Bros. 64. It’s a game focused almost entirely on neutral, where one mistake can leave you down a stock and working to get back in the game. Wangera is among the best in the world, with a character that is not all that popular, so watching him go to work is an absolute pleasure.

Frame 2:
British eSports AssociationRyan Hart Joins the Advisory Board for the British Esports Association

As someone who calls this damp little island home, it’s very exciting to see efforts being made to improve the status of esports in this country. There’s no one better to fight in the corner of the FGC than Ryan Hart, who is one of the most decorated Street Fighter players of all time.

Frame 3:
unholy_night_750Ex-SNK Developers Are Working on a New Fighting Game–for the Super Famicom

This news is still blowing my mind. You read it right–a brand new Super Famicom fighting game. No, I’m not sure why either. It’s probably going to be amazing, though.

Horosho! desk Returns with a Season One Combo Tribute to Street Fighter V’s Zangief

The Red Cyclone at his Season One best!

Combo virtuoso desk returns to YouTube with a “Season Finale” for Street Fighter V’s Zangief! So many elbows, knees, lariats and juggles… but fun to see how some-well-timed Muscle Power (read: V-Reversal) can put F.A.N.G in his place with a Borscht Dynamite. You still gotta watch out for those Aegis Reflectors though, ‘Gief.

After the combo craziness, desk appends the CMV with some notes as to what mechanics are involved in some of this strange stuff, like the standing 720° Critical Art that still gets grabbed with an EX Spinning Pile Driver, and how to exploit the Cyclone Lariat’s timing for combo connections.

Catch Up on Expected Street Fighter V Season 2 Changes with Some Help from VesperArcade

Some discussion about what is in store for the near-future of Street Fighter V.

While Capcom has not yet released any finalized patch notes, the build of Street Fighter V running at the PlayStation Experience has given players a preview of how SFV is going to work going into Season Two–and we can expect a lot of changes to both individual and overall mechanics as Capcom works to rebalance their game for the 2017 Capcom Pro Tour.

VesperArcade has been collecting and offering commentary on many of these changes as observed and experienced from the PSX build; check out the videos below to learn more about changes to anti-air light attacks, removal of meterless invincible reversals, changes to meter gain, and the individual nerfs/buffs to the fighters themselves.

Remember, of course, that these changes are not 100% confirmed by Capcom–yet.
