Prove Yourself! Ryu Masters Daigo Umehara and Tokido Clash in These Street Fighter V Matches

In Street Fighter V, BST|Daigo Umehara and Tokido both have chosen Ryu as their fighter of choice, and both have become renowned for the skillful play they bring to a character that–while very robust and usually near the top of SFV tier lists–doesn’t typically sit at the number one spot in tournament results. Last month, YogaFlame24 featured a face-off between these two giants, and now the fight continues in this compilation of over 18 minutes of online matches between The Beast and the “Murderface.”

Who’s Ryu is strongest? The answer lies in the heart of battle, of course!

See the Faces Behind the English Voice Cast in Street Fighter V

Often underappreciated, voice actors make a massive contribution to our games: the personality they inject into our favorite characters can make or break immersion–or enjoyment. Street Fighter V boasts a robust voice cast, and this game’s English versions of the character voices are quite good overall–if not better, in some characters’ cases–than their Japanese originals.

If you have any curiosity as to what the actors providing these voices might look like, check out the video below. YouTuber “Porfirios guarding this channel” has compiled photographs of the SFV actors, and paired them with their character and a voice selection to give an enlightening glimpse behind-the-scenes as to who we’re hearing during and between Street Fighter V’s battles and cinema scenes.

Violence Is Who He Is: Follow the History of Street Fighter’s Evil Ryu

The answer lies in the heart of battle–but when that answer is to succumb to the lust for power and violence, and yield to the Satsui no Hado: Evil Ryu is born! Drawn to embrace the Dark Hado’s terrible power by Akuma’s urging (in his desire for the ultimate opponent) Evil Ryu represent’s one “what if” result of Ryu’s struggle, and provides Street Fighter players a chance to see what a little bit of murderous intent can do to spiff up Ryu’s classic moveset.

XusesGB presents game footage of Evil Ryu’s in-game appearances to date, beginning with his debut as a palette-swap in Street Fighter Alpha 2 (and noting how originally Evil Ryu was not as outright demonic as he is in later incarnations), then showcasing the character’s appearances in Street Fighter Alpha 3, the Street Fighter EX series, the Capcom vs. SNK series and many more.

Should You Upgrade to PS4 Pro for Your Fighting Games? No, According to Maximilian

Sony has recently revealed the future of the PlayStation 4 console in the unveiling of the much-expected slim PlayStation 4, and the more interesting PlayStation 4 Pro–that powered-up PS4 “Neo” that we;ve been hearing about for quite a while. PS4 firmware update 4.00 has just gone live, and it not-so-coincidentally includes a transfer utility to make it that much easier to move your games and data over to a shiny new PS4 Pro. But the question is: if fighting games are your focus on the console, is there any benefit to dropping cash on the beefy new machine?

As Maximilian discusses in the video below, basically: no. When you factor in that the upgrades are primarily visual–and that for fighting games to work properly the frame rates need to be standardized, and many high-end 4K displays may still suffer latency issues–there’s not really any incentive for fighters to make the switch, at least not yet. Next year’s biggest releases–namely Tekken 7: Fated Retribution and Injustice 2–have not yet indicated they will take advantage of any visual upgrade the PS4 can provide.

Of course, the advantages to other genres may be well worth your while if that’s your bag; Maximilian also talks about some of the upcoming games he’s looking forward to that will indeed benefit from the graphical boost.
