UDON’s Shadaloo Special #1 and Street Fighter illustrated novel “Where Strength Lies” are in stores today!

Some cool reprints and a new adventure arrive on store shelves today.

Street Fighter fans are in for a double dose of action today, as both the first Street Fighter: Shadaloo Special comic and the illustrated novel Street Fighter: Where Strength Lies are now available.

The Street Fighter: Shadaloo Special one-shot compiles four Shadaloo-focused stories that were previously available only in UDON hardcover releases:

This villainous collection of rare tales includes two stories by writer Ken Siu-Chong and artist Hanzo Steinbach, and two stories both written and drawn by Omar Dogan. Balrog and Vega fight as only kings can! Juri and Crimson Viper hunt Decapre! Cammy teams up with Delta Red against Shadaloo, and the poisonous F.A.N.G causes mayhem!

Street Fighter: Where Strength Lies is a hardcover novel written by Takashi Yano, featuring cover and interior illustrations by manga artist Yusuke Murata:

The World Warriors take center stage in the first ever Street Fighter novel! Featuring Ryu vs. Akuma, Chun-Li vs. Elena, Guile vs. E.Honda, Sagat vs. M.Bison, and many more classic fighters colliding in their most epic encounters yet. Highlights and discussion on Capcom-Unity’s Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition Arcade Mode stream

New V-Triggers got a little bit of air time in Capcom-Unity’s Arcade Mode showcase.

Capcom-Unity took to Twitch yesterday to highlight the features of the upcoming Arcade Mode in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. It didn’t take long for the interface and layout to be shown; as what most viewers wanted to see were the new mechanics and V-Triggers in the upcoming build of the game, the rest of the stream turned to demonstrating those — well, at least a little. It was pretty clear that the stream was somewhat limited on what they were allowed to show off for us.

In this video, VesperArcade summarizes what was covered in the stream, and discusses what we were able to see of the new gameplay aspects and V-Triggers:

YogaFlame24 clipped the highlights from the stream for your viewing convenience; they basically boil down to seeing some of the new V-Triggers in action. While we saw Ibuki’s giant shuriken and Ryu’s crumpling parry in the initial trailer, this time we we got some glimpses of Chun-Li’s Kikosho and Birdie’s new can-flipping interaction.

NurseLee also clipped a section and ran a visual comparison of the increased pushback from Ken’s corner throw.

Ken’s gameplay on Capcom’s stream suggests throw loops been removed from Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

Has Capcom finally nerfed a much-reviled corner tactic in Street Fighter V?

Throw loops: the much-dreaded — and much-hated, at least on the receiving end — tactic has long been a point of contention in Street Fighter V. However: in yesterday’s Capcom-Unity livestream (intended to demonstrate the structure of the upcoming Arcade Mode in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition), viewers caught a glimpse of a corner interaction that suggests throw loops may be a thing of the past.

The stream was running on the demonstration build that’s bound for PSX this weekend. When Ken threw Ryu into the corner in this new build, the pushback was clearly increased to move Ken into further range than the current build. In the video below, NurseLee compares the stream footage against Ken’s current corner-throw pushback:

While no official word has been given on this change (and I wouldn’t expect Capcom to provide those details until they’re ready to release full patch notes for SFVAE), it appears to be clearly intended to hamper repeated throw attempts in the corner. We also don’t know if this tweak is universal to the cast, or just for Ken! This may not represent the final build that hits retail as Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, so stay tuned for more updates as we learn more.

Don’t miss “The King of Winter”: December’s cool online and offline events for The King of Fighters XIV

Burn to fight — and melt the winter ice this December!

If you’re a fan of The King of Fighters XIV — and it’s still a great time to pick up the game if you haven’t yet! — December sports three KOFXIV events you’ll want to keep your eye on!

Captain America and the Winter Soldier join forces for their own unique team Hyper in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

These brothers-in-arms carry their camaraderie into Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

Maximilian passed by Capcom to grab some more in-game footage of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite — this time in particular to highlight the unique Civil War-inspired team Hyper that will become available when you pair up Captain America with the upcoming Winter Soldier. Have a look!

Reportedly, this is the only team-specific Hyper in the game so far; here’s hoping for more to come. The Winter Soldier joins Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite‘s roster as DLC on December 5th — along with Venom and Black Widow.

RoKtheReaper interviews Holy Order-Troll, discussing the Canada Cup 2017 double-entry incident, and more

Some words from one of the individuals behind the controversy.

Canada Cup’s first Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite event ran into some serious troubles when it was discovered that a player known as PCMarvelGod (a.k.a. Quackbot) had entered the fray twice, taking up a position in Holy Order-Troll’s pool after she backed out. The result was a replayed bracket, much anger from various players, and a lifetime ban from Canada Cup for PCMarvelGod and Holy Order-Troll.

To learn more about the event and the people involved, RoKtheReaper approached Lina “Holy Order-Troll” Crawford to hear her side of the story, and get a better idea of the player behind the scandal. In the 20-question written interview, they discuss her past volunteer involvement in the fighting game community, the origin of her gamer tag, and trolling (“I honestly feel that trolling should never sound personal or hateful, such as attacking one’s character or appearance…”). They discuss a little about whether she feels the lifetime bans were fair (“For me, yes I suppose, and I will always feel very guilty about the whole thing. But for him? No.”), and reference some other controversial incidents and possible inconsistencies in the consequences… “But everyone deserves a second chance, and the FGC is not always fair, sadly.”

They also discuss gender in the FGC, Crawford’s non-FGC hobbies, other game genres, and more. Read the full interview here.

Check out the planned brackets for Capcom Cup 2017

Here are the preliminary brackets for December’s big Street Fighter V showdown.

As first revealed yesterday on Capcom Fighters’ Wake Up Wednesdays YouTube show, here are the planned brackets for Capcom Cup 2017. These brackets reflect the withdrawal of 2016’s Champion Liquid|NuckleDu, with his auto-qualification spot transferred to and accepted by last year’s runner-up EG|Ricki Ortiz. The only remaining open spot is reserved for the winner of the Last Chance Qualifier.

Naturally, any other last-minute withdrawals (or travel visa issues) could result in these brackets being adjusted again, so stay tuned; but unforeseen changes aside, this is how the battles in Anaheim will begin on December 9th!

New collections of UDON comic action are on the way.
